My TI-83 Plus is not working. At one point it started randomly turning off, and I would have to press the on button several times to get it to start up again. When it started up again, it came up with the message RAM cleared. After a while it would only stay on for a few seconds and soon it just stopped working. No, I'm not an idiot, as I have tried a new set of batteries twice, and it still won't work. I went to troubleshooting on the ti site but it didn't work. I e-mailed them and they told me the same thing that I read on troubleshooting and told me to e-mail them back with info (name, serial number, etc.). I've had the calculator for three years, so my warranty is void, and I don't want to pay more money because my calc randomly breaks (nothing ever went wrong with it and to keep it from breaking I put it in a case). Has anyone else had the same problem as me who knows how to fix it (besides saying the things on the troubleshooting page)? I really need a working calculator!

well what you can do is call up their like technical problems number, tell them what is wrong and that you want it fixed, when they ask you all the info, just tell them that you have had it for about seven mothns. Send it in, they will take about four weeks to give it back. I know ppl who have done that, they recondition it for no cost and it works good. They'll never find out, if they do you just say, oops i was mistaken for something else. :)

try replacing the emergency cricle batteries you have to remove with a screwdriver, take them out along with the AAA batteries for 12hrs and then replace them it should work, but make sure you archieve or send important programs to friends calc becasue eveything will be erased even your groups you made, good luck

waffle:
My TI-83 Plus did the exact same thing... Even though I had mine for a year, I was still able to send it back to Texas Instruments and I got a new/reconditioned one back. They're asking for your information so they can give you a return authorizaton number to send it back with.
