I'm trying to connect the TI-89 Titanium from TI Connect. I've tried this on two separate computers and the same thing happens. TI Connect just doesn't see it, even after I changed the Connectivity settings to TI-89 Titanium and Black Cable. I know that the computer recognizes the calculator's there (this little bubble pops up that says the 89 is connected to the comp) but the program just doesn't see it. It works with my TI-83 just fine, but why not the TI-89?

Please help me. This aggravation has nearly ruined my newly minted joy of owning a TI-89 Titanium, of which many on CC should understand.

Is the cable connected to the USB port in the back or a port in the front of the CPU? Is the Ti-89 in "Home" mode?

My computer's USB port is in the front so I'd say . . . front? The calculator is on and is set to where it first is when it is turned on (the menu). Is that the home mode?

bump. please help.

Did you use the same port for the 83? Maybe you should check your Ti-Connect settings and see if anything of the settings are incorrect.

Which program? The Ti Device Explorer?

When it tries to recognize if any devices are connected, you should see the small screen that shows the USB ports and the connected devices. After you click select, you should come the screen that shows the folders in your 89.

Yes, I use the same port for the 89 as the 83. The communication settings are correct: it's set on TI-89 Titanium and Black Cable. When I talked about the bubble, I was not referring to any program, just the computer notified me that it knew the 89 was connected (this is in Windows XP). The problem is I can't get TI Connect to see the calculator, so I can't get to its folders.

Oh my gosh. Please, someone help me before I do something mean to this calculator. Right now I'll go nag TI's customer support.

ZOMGZOMGYAYYYY!!!!!!!!!

I took the black cable away and used my old Silverlink cable, and it appeared. Then there must've been something wrong with the cable. Do you think I could be able to get a replacement from TI?
