TI Calc Questions

So here's where I'm at. I'm decent at the Math SAT 600-650ish. However, my Reading and Writing are far above that, always around 770+. I'm looking for that extra "edge" to boost my math 20 or so points and with all the TI-89 stuff on the boards, I've decided to buy one, (and then hopefully return it after the SAT =) )

Now, I don't want to rely soley on the 89 calc because I'm extremely comfortable with all the features on my good ol' 83. Will the proctor let me have both calcs on my desk at the same time? As far as I can tell, the only useful feature the 89 has over the 83 is the solution variable solving. Is there anyhting else? It will also cut down on some of the time for the math section, which is huge for me.

I'm looking to practice with the 89 before the SAT on saturday. If anyone can throw out some CB Blue Book questions that you can use the 89 to solve, let me know.

Thanks!

No, you can't have two calcs at once. Practice with 89, and you'll soon like it just as much as 83, since it can do pretty much everything that 83 can do

Are there any other features the 89 has over the 83 besides variable solving?

Any reply would be most appreciated. Should I bother downloading apps? Are there any good ones? I'm desperate =)

3d graphing, but that won't really help

However, solve feature allows you to find the inverse of a function.

It can also handle imaginary numbers.

Anyhow, it's a good investment for college math...you'll need the CAS for differentiation, intergration, DE solving, etc.
