Hey guys, Could u please tell me what is really different between these 2 though I already got 2 Ti83 plus calculators. I know Ti89 is a new model with 3D graphing and USB interface. The thing is Im a very poor vietnamese guy then please feel free to give me yr comments .
Sincerely,

The Ti89 is awesome - it does symbolic math, meaning it can do symbolic derivatives/integrals for calculus and algebra things like factoring, and it has a bunch of extra features like 3d graphing and user-defined functions. That being said, it costs substantially more than the 83+ and takes a while to get used to. Basically the 83+ is analogous to a go-cart (easy to use and is better than walking) while the 89 is a stick-shift convertible (obviously you could go a lot farther/faster though you have to learn how to use it).

You could easily sell your 83's and have enough money for a 89. And don't bother with the titanium, it's just a waste of money with no new features. Have a look on ebay, i picked up my 89 in perfect condition for $60 shipped a couple years ago.

TI 83 Plus: User friendly, easy to use, can be used for many purposes:
TI 89: Not user friendly, but does everything TI 83 Plus does however its algebra menu helps a lot; for example you can solve equations, factor expressions etc.
TI 84 Plus Silver Edition is another option, its apps contains conics as well as Poly-Smlt which are good.
You decide what to use; I personally use TI 89.

I use a TI83. TI83>>>TI86, by the way... It seems to me that TI 89 is confusing and I think the only good thing about it is all those alg. things that are inside it.

Um, I don't see how the 89 is not user friendly. Its extremely easy to use, with an interface much better than the annyoing 83. Seriously, there is nothing confusing about it, and it can do sooo much more than any other non-querty TI devices.

TI-89 is so much more user friendly than TI-83 in my opinion. Whereas TI-83 is option-driven, meaning you have to dig through menus and catalogs to highlight the option for the command you want, TI-89 is entirely variables/functions/commands driven. All objects have a corresponding name that you can simply type in and activate.

after you play around with the ti89 and read the manual a bit, it's MUCH more easy to use.

ti-89 also does calculus... integrals, derivatives, limits, oooo lala!!! very helpful
