Hello all. Just curious, how many of you gave up a hobby that was time-consuming when starting college? In this case, time-consuming can be subjective, as some had much more free time than others. After a while passed, did any of you start up your hobbies again?

I, for example, gave up gaming since entering college for various reasons. The prime reason being that it took up hours of my day, especially since I bought RPGs and strategy games that required countless hours at a time. Recently, I've begun having more and more free time, so I've been thinking of gaming again. However, I'm a bit cautious since it's only my first quarter, and I've heard it gets more difficult from here.

Anyhow, did any of you go through something similar? What was it, in your case? Eager to hear from those who went before me. (:

I used to play online games a lot before college. During college I was more hanging out with other people. My solo gaming turned into four person video games.

You never felt the need to stop playing in order to save time?

I used to be involved with theater in high school; I was the vice president of the drama club and one of the student directors for the musicals. I decided not to do theater in college because of how time consuming it can be (and because even though I was good at it in my small high school, I am certainly not as talented as most of the people here on campus) but I am considering starting it up again. I miss it and it was a great way to meet people!

Similar situation here. Used to be the soloist and bass/baritone captain for our school’s jazz choir and glee club. But, like you said, practice takes a while to get through and hours just slog by. At the same time, I feel like there are others here who make my singing seem terrible, so I’ve not worked up the courage to go to auditions.

@notyetengineer I definitely get that. I decided to keep pursuing flute and piccolo because I couldn’t give those up, but I completely stopped voice and drama. There are some auditions this weekend for a show in the spring semester that I’m considering going to. I just know that the talent level here is so high and I don’t want to completely embarrass myself!
