I had a problem with the pacing too. When they segued into the “romantic cave scene” I feel like there was not enough building up to it. In the beginning of the movie, there was so much action, and then we get to see 15 minutes of Katniss and Peeta cuddling in a cave. That completely ruined the mood of the movie for me.

I am completely decided about the Hunger Games books, which is that I love them. Come on: it’s a break from whiny, self-absorbed, damsels-in-distress (you know who). The thing I’m really thrilled with is the writing, though. From a fellow author’s eyes, SC has written a rare gem among today’s YA bestsellers. Readers have said Mockingjay’s “weird” and “depressing”, and that’s because it’s supposed to be: it marks her descent into madness, in a true voice. While the plot could have been a little more original, it’s hard to find that among the really popular bestsellers now.

As for the movie, I didn’t watch it (to avoid tarnishing my memory of the series) so I can’t really pass judgement. But EVERYONE knows the books are always better than the movie, right? ;)

IDK, I heard about the differences in the movie and it sounded like they took out most of the things I didn’t like about the book.
I didn’t think Katniss was a well enough developed character for the book to be in 1st person.

I disliked catching fire but Mockingjay was good. Neither were as good as the first though. As for the movie, I think they did a decent job. I was a bit disappointed in the cave scene but I was impressed by many other things, so I’m not going to complain too much.

i generally hate first person, to be perfectly honest, but suzanne collins did manage to pull it off alright. none of the books were better than the first, but the characters she included made it much better –finnick odair, alksdjflk. mockingjay sort of threw me off for a bit –not the part about the madness, which actually made sense to me, but how everything happened so quickly.

the movie i have yet to watch since it hasn’t been released in china, but jennifer lawrence and josh hutcherson are fantastic actors, contrary to many that have been cast in these type of book-to-movie things. (:

Did you see Josh Hutcherson’s Teen Vogue shoot? Hahaha it looked really awkward to me.

returns to 1st page

Barnard is my dream school also!

Hi guys,

I am a 14 year old girl from NJ. My favorite subjects are Biology, Algebra and English. I despise Geometry, Spanish and History with all of my heart.

I want to go into medicine more than anything, due to my passion for science and helping others.

My favorite EC is forensics. I compete in extemporaneous and impromptu speaking. In Extemp, you have 30 minutes to prep a 7 minute speech answering a current event question which you then present without notes.

My dream school is Barnard.

Any forensicators out there?

Yikes. So much Hunger Games. I just want to say that I was a fan of Jennifer Lawrence before The Hunger Games.

I enjoy TV, laying in bed, sleeping, movies, music, and creeping on people I barely know.

Wow geography, we’re practically soul mates! There goes the creeping… ;D

Oh hey there. ASL, plz.

Now off to reciprocate…

I still havent described myself on this thread.

Ok, I like reading, eating, listening/playing music, laughing, and… creeping. I’m loud and quirky, but I try to be serious sometimes. I hate kpop and cannot stand overly insecure girls.

My posts are way stupider.

why do so many CC’ers like creeping? xD

It’s part of the CC culture.

I’ve never creeped on anyone before…who should I start with…

You can creep on me if you so desire xD hahaha, creeping= cc culture. +10
