yeaaa my stats are lower than those of who got into GSP ~ lalala no way ill get into NYU hahahhahahahhh ive gone madd im crazyyyyyyyyy slits wrist

Umm, that's not funny.. at all. So either you need real help (and I hope you get it) or you need to think about what you say before you post even if you are stressed.

What is the point of this thread? I mean, do you want us to pity you? This isn't funny.

Yes my stats are exremly low too, well not stats; my gpa is not bad, but my SAT is LOW. You would never guess how low it is :-( i took it first time! I am still hoping NYU would not give all their consideration on that awful result.
There is always a chance, even a small one!

actually i got into GSP. i guess that ends my madness

did you find out about it today that you got into gsp????

Just kill yourself before you come to NYU. My windows already only open like 6 inches and spring is coming.

What did you expect from NYU when you applied with low stats?

You wouldn't want to go to GSP, they are second rate students.

Oh and BTW, GSP only accepts those who don't need financial aid so that can explain a lot.

Proof: Guy in top 10 people (top 1%) in his class with around a 1350 his SATs doesn't get in. Meanwhile I meet stupider GSP kids on a regular basis with 1200 SAT scores. He applied for F aid....And the rest didn't.

yaa got an email

I concur with that sentiment.

you wonder why he got his last 2 accounts banned..............

damn your one lucky guy. to doubt himself and come back with a gsp acceptance. yes im jealous

What are you talking about? Decisions did come out yet, or am i wrong?

Last2AcntsBanned, maybe I can backup your statement a bit. I knew two kids - same race, gender. One had a 94 average, another an 86. The one with an 86 outscored the one with a 94 average on the SATs by about 50 pts. 94 average kid had good EC's, better than the 86 average kid. 94 average kid gets rejected, 86 average kid gets GSP-ed.

yea but none of you are considering the importance of essays...you guys are just assuming everything on stats....

i know gsp kids on financial aid...but they're also minorities

From the stats of all GSP kids I saw I am yet to see anyone break ~1350-1400....Looks like GSP is for those who are equal to aceptees(is that a word?) in most parts except for SAT.

Essays really aren't that important at all.
NYU doesn't consider financial aid when accepting students;however, people in GSP do get bad aid generally, so the poorer ones cannot matriculate.
People in this forum REALLY have to stop extrapolating one or two personal stories into bombastic conclusions that have no basis of truth.

essays are important. they prove that you can write and whether or not you're an interesting and unique person.

Essay's aren't important at all, Colleges realize that parents and English teachers can write it for you. I remember hearing a survey somewhere, for colleges in general, that 97% of essays have no bearing on your admission, 2% help, and 1% hurt. NYU claims to have a more "holistic" approach, but there really is no way to tell if you wrote the essay. A horrible essay can of course hurt you, and a great one explaining why stats were lower/ how you cured cancer can help you....generally they dont have much bearing on your application.

If 97% of essays have no bearing on our admission, then why do colleges make students write them, and why do they even bother reading them? Your logic is nonsense... Do you really think NYU wants to admit only high-scoring over-achieving students who have no social skills or interesting perspectives? In my opinion, i think essays offer a chance for you to express yourself, and HOW they successfully express themselves is important more than the subject matter...

That's right, they don't have us write all those short answers and essays for nothing. When they have to decide between candidates with similar scores, it's all about the essays and the responses. The interest and passion that you show for learning and for nyu can only help.
