What is the best way to ensure that you will meet the time limit. I tend to have trouble with that...esp on the reading/science sections.
Thank you.

Take many many practice tests in those sections.

Practice. Just do timed sections for each subject and you'll get better. Bring a watch to testing--I always do that and it seems to help.

take a lot of timed practice tests

and make sure you always have a wrist-watch with stopwatch capabilities on it.. especially during the ACT... it'll keep you on track

i agree. On the reading section, I would allow myself 7-9 minutes per passage and 10 questions, varying based on the difficulty of the passage. This really helped me on the June ACT

8 min 45 seconds for every passage on reading is the exact timing

and for science, it's 8 min and 45 sec for every 10 questions (same as reading... but more passages on science with less questions per passage)

Isn't there 7 passages on science? so maybe 5 mins each?

yeah, but one passage may have 5 questions, another may have 7 questions, and another may have 6 questions... so i still just go by 8 min 45 sec per 10 questions

Or just work as quickly as possible. Say you have a minute left and three questions remaining. Instead of getting flustered and trying to answer all three as quickly as possible, it would serve you better to focus on getting two of the three right and then guessing on the third. Analogously, don't make meeting the time limit your goal-- make getting the most questions right your goal. =]

^^ that's what i had to do on the june science section b/c i got behind on time... ended up getting a 34 on the science section, so this strategy does work (i thought i bombed it too, but i guess i was wrong)

To improve my Reading speed, I just read two hours daily for a week before the test day. Fortunately, I had just enough time to finish(I had like 10 secs left......before then, I couldn't even read the last passage and went straight to the questions)
