i'll be 22 when i graduate with a b.s. if i go to med school right away, how long will it take me to complete an md/phd and a residency (+fellowship or whatever) in either radiology or surgical oncology? basically, how old will i be when the whole process is over? i need something to look forward to...

You'll be 22 when you graduate with a BS.
You'll be 30 when you graduate with a MD/PhD, assuming you take 8 years.

For radiology:

You'll be 31 when you finish your transitional year.
You'll be 35 when you finish your radiology residency.
You'll be 36-37 when you finish your radiology fellowship, if you do one.

For surgical oncology:

You'll be 35 when you finish your general surgery residency.
You'll be 36-38 when you finish your surgical oncology fellowship.

As I understand it with my limited knowledge about this subspecialty, there's no real reason to do a formal surgical oncology fellowship. If you see enough cancer patients as a surgeon, you'll basically get the experience that the fellowship gives you. Maybe BDM or BRM can comment on this, though.

Somewhere in between 22-37: I'll become an alcoholic.
