Anyone know any inside scoop about the housing for freshmen?

The simple answer to your question is “no” (unless things are changing next year). Whether you submit your deposit today or April 30 has no bearing on housing priority. Honors Program students are housed together in a new dorm complex (on East Campus) that just opened in 9/13.

Some non-honors freshman are also housed in the new dorm complex. Other freshman are housed in various dorm complexes on East Campus, West Campus, and North Campus.
UD’s goal is to eventually have most all freshman housed on East Campus. The rooms are your typical college dorm rooms except for around 300-400 rooms in North Campus are Suite Style with 2 rooms sharing a bathroom. You can request a specific dorm complex, roommate, or room style (i.e. single or double) once housing requests are taken in May but you are not guaranteed that you will get your request(s). You will find out in the beginning of August where you have been assigned. Hope this info is helpful.

exactly what mwallenmd said. As a freshman whether you pay on May 1st or Dec 1st there is no difference you all go into a lottery system for housing. Certain groups (athletics, honors etc) do have some specific locations but for generic housing there is no difference when you send your money in.
