Timing with FlyAway from LAX to UCLA

hey does anyone know how long it takes to travel from LAX to UCLA with the FlyAway shuttle??? How about during rush hour??? I'm trying to plan my flight time.

takes about the same time as a drive- under 30 with no traffic, and up to an hour with traffic, although.. I don't know how NB traffic is in the morning. I'd plan something like, a flight set to arrive 1h 30m before esp. if you're bringing checked luggage so you have time to find the bus etc. Someone help me out here.

LAX to Lot 32 takes around 20-25 minutes without traffic. With traffic, it can take around 45 minutes.

i second BH. i've been on that shuttle many, many times... but it beats supershuttle any day!!!

keep in mind that once you get to lot 32, you have to get to the dorms. which involves walking. uphill. with whatever luggage you brought. the only way to avoid that is to take the more expensive and more crazy/insane supershuttle (which i ONLY would recommend if you manage to get to the flyaway shuttle right after it leaves, because it comes only every 30 minutes). other than that stick with flyaway, and plan on a 20-30 minute walk (depending on how much luggage you have, how fast you are at walking uphill, and how lost you do/don't get in westwood). HAVE A MAP OF UCLA WITH YOU. and you'll be fine.

hmm how much baggage do you have? I usually took flyaway last year but I'm planning to switch to supershuttle, though I need to check out how much it costs again O.o the walk is quite substantial.

Supershuttle from LAX to UCLA is $18 if you purchase your pass online. There are $2 discount offers online, just search for them. The trip might take up to an hour, depending on who gets on the shuttle. UCLA might be the last destination . . .

i hate the effing supershuttle. never, ever, ever again...

try an hour and a half

it's either an hour and a half on the super shuttle, or an hour on flyaway + half an hour walk. I'd take the supershuttle. I mean look at it this way, it has the same convenience taking you straight to your dorms as a cab does, but cab costs like 50 bucks, i think 30 dollars for waiting an hour isn't too much to ask =P winter quarter and spring quarter when u're not brining all ur stuff to and fro home flyaways fine. But when ur arriving beginning of fall and leaving end of spring take the supershuttle

Sorry to barge in on this conversation, but I have a related question.

How long does it take to get TO LAX from UCLA? I'm assuming it's the same (30 min w/o traffic), but what about after you get to LAX? Does it stop at each terminal one by one, or is there only one big stop and everyone walks from there? How about if you're going international?

Sorrry, never took the FlyAway before, but I think I might have to. Leaving to London tomorrow

it stops at each terminal in LAX.

it takes the same time to get to LAX as it does to get to UCLA....

they'll ask what your airline is, and drop you off at that terminal.

make sure you have exact change $4 or it's a hassle getting change back.

Does the supershuttle take you to the dorms? I need to dropped at Reiber terrace so i can drop all my bags off!

Thanx

Supershuttle does, flyaway doesn't.

So I need to go from campus to LAX a week from tomorrow (for orientation)... should I just call one of these guys (Flyaway, Supershuttle) and schedule it or what?

And I should give it an hour and a half if it's in the evening? I gotta get to the airport -- can't miss my flight.

you don't have to schedule flyaway just be at the stop before it leaves (which is every half hour.) however, if you plan on taking the supershuttle you'll have to schedule it with them. And yes, an hour and half would be pretty good for travel time planning purposes.

So how far is that flyaway stop? I'll be walking and will just have a backpack.

It's a good 20 minute or so walk if you're walking casually.

Hmmm...thank you.

Is there anyway you (or anyone) could point out where the stop is on a map?

Yeah. If you look at the UCLA map, it's Parking Structure 32, at the bottom left of the map. Just walk down Kinross until Gayley and turn left and just keep walking up Gayley.

after flyaway drops you off at ucla, isn’t there a bus that goes around the perimeter of campus? i’m going to have lots of bags so I was hoping there was a way that didn’t involve a lot of walking.
