I’m worried that my GPA will be my downfall, which these guaranteed programs look for, and I don’t know if my standardized test scores do make up for the low GPA. I did, however, show improvement through my three years by increasing my GPA. Any thoughts/suggestions on improving my current application as well as gaining admittance to those specific schools are appreciated.

Congrats on your hard work! You should have great chance. We have friend who just transferred from Stevenson(had scholarship) to GWU junior year for BS/MD. So don’t over look a smaller STEM school that may be recruiting you , too.

I would also add Union/Albany with your strong leadership exposure and VCU program with your extensive medical-related volunteer work. The bottom is you need to invest your time and creative energy to come up with a story, why you are a perfect candidate for those programs… numbers are not everything!

@upstream - why did you suggest Union/Albany for strong leadership exposure? Do Union/Albany give preference to leadership compared to medical background or other stats?

@DSOF20192023 Union/Albany has a health care management focus (in addition to BA/MD), so strong leadership experiences is important for that program!

@OVOGang - your scores and extra-curriculars are very strong! I think your chances depend on what your unweighted GPA is and (if it is borderline) how well you can mold your medical and other experiences to fit the mission statement of each of the schools you are applying to in your essays.
