Tips for running for Freshman Class President?

When should I announce I want to be class President? Should I start early so I do not have to worry about someone already stealing all the votes?
Thanks

Be popular and make a clear, rational argument to all voters why opposition is simply a bad choice for them as compared to yourself. Starting early would help, but be careful to make a good impression

True, I do not want to act desperate

Just make sure you are simply the best option for everyone’s interests, at least in their minds

I will try for my school, in the other school there is a kid who’s brother is Senior Class President :l
I dont know if he is running, but that is why I need to start fast

Be popular and make your speech funny instead of serious, when your speech is funny you actually get votes ( I known from experience at losing due to a serious speech)

Lulz, that doesn’t matter at all. However, if you are anxious about that, you may be too anxious for the election. Know that you’ll do nothing as a Class President, so instead, you have to make friends and convince people that you’ll help them later

Oh yes
Yea good point, only meets 2 a month

You also simply won’t do anything. The EC isn’t really the best “leadership” for college too, since you aren’t really leading and are elected through voter fraud 99% of the time. It would be far better if you did something along the lines of Failed Simulation/Cal Newport

How would making a handball team look?

Do you enjoy handball? What would your role be? Would you involve your team in the community and/or in tournaments? To what scale?

I would be founder, I think it is a neat sport, and want to learn about it
We would start in winter, and prepare for one tournament (it would be our first year, and I do not know any “handballers” in our community) in the spring

It’s better than nothing at all.

ECs are supposed to reflect where your interests lie, and how you enjoy them. That’s their real value in admissions, and I urge you to go forth with them, not for college, but for the mere notion of sanity and humanity

Bribe them with food.

If you can, make your own election slips. For our junior class elections, one guy was left off the ballot, so he printed his own slips that people could just put into the box instead. Obviously, this was less work than marking off the actual name, and he won. (This strategy only works if to most people the candidates are really similar and there’s not a huge obvious gap in quality)

Getting to know people would definitely be a good idea, especially to people outside of your classes/lunch period. The more people that know your name the more likely they’ll circle it instead of some random boy/girl they’ve never really heard of.
