Tips on calculator and accounting.

<p>A friend of mine just switched majors from science to accounting and is quite excited. Do accounting students usually use those financial based calculators from the various brands? are they allowed to use them during tests and stuff? And if so, which one do you personally use. I would like to get one as a gift if they are common to get him off to a great start.</p>

<p>Yes, you use financial calculators for tests. The HP one is pretty common at my school, but I use the TI BA-II Plus because it was cheaper (all you need are the basic functions which every financial calculator has).</p>
