Tipsy Tuesdays?

Do people drink all week long at Brown? I’ve heard people say that its a party school, others say no. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. I’m not exactly eager to be going to a school where it seems like everyone is always drinking (cough claremont mckenna cough) Yeah, that was lame, I know. I’m just not really into getting wasted for fun every night.

Some people probably do. Not the majority. I wouldn't worry about it.

You will find a social group here (and a big one, at that) that drinks exactly as often as you're comfortable with, be it 5 times a week, once in a while, or not at all, I promise...

There are people I live with that dont drink, those that drink one night, or just the weekend, and those who drink every night.

No! People suck at drinking here. All of us from Tulane are ****ed off about that. It is really pretty dry here during the weeknights.

Well yes, we drink less than Tulane kids do. That I will admit ;). One of my friends from Tulane here drinks a lot more than all but two other people I know...

right, because everyone wants to get drunk before an 8:30am class. drink in your own room if you're that addicted to alcohol.

I wasn't asking because I want to, I was just wondering because I've heard about it happening a lot even at schools that close to as prestigious as Brown.

Brown is NOT a party school. Partying does happen, but it happens mostly on the weekends (Friday and Saturday, sometimes Thursday). There is plenty of alcohol if people want it, but I wouldn't say it dominates the social scene. I don't drink at all, and I've got a large group of friends, some of whom drink, and some of whom don't. You definitely don't have to drink to fit in, but it's there if you want it. There's also plenty to do every night of the week that doesn't involve alcohol (sober parties, lectures, concerts, dance classes, movies, etc).

It really depends on what you want. There are some people in my dorm that get wasted every night and then there are those that never drink at all.

the party's there if you want it.. just as an example, there's people playing beer pong in the laundry room right now, monday at 2 AM.

Just a funny point of note:

In 1987, Playboy listed Brown as the 33rd top "Party College" in the country.

That is kinda funny, but then again... how credible of a source is Playboy? Plus, anyone who's applying to Brown now probably wasn't even born in 1987. The school has experienced a huge increase in applications and a corresponding increase in the "quality" of students. It's a much more respected school than it was 18 years ago. Of course, there's no hard and fast rule about whether a smart or serious student will drink or not, but there is definitely a difference between a "party school" and a serious school where partying happens.

ILoveBrown... where do you live? That may greatly affect what you see. I see plenty of people working hard, and plenty of people partying hard. I see people doing both and neither. It's cliche to say, but Brown is rather diverse in that sense.

The point is-- if you want to get drunk every night it's going ot be very easy. If you don't, that also will be very easy.

ILoveBrown, lol, I actually pointed that out as a positive thing... I like the work hard, play hard atmosphere, and I think it's worth celebrating!

If I ended up at Brown, I'd drink on a tuesday... Hell I'd drink every night for a whole week.

Just one week though....
I'd do it... for Brown.

That's called Orientation.

Or spring break... Or spring week(end)...

Or reading period, for the courageous and ****-sure.

you forgot wasted wednesdays :)
