Tisch/Steinhardt

Hello!
I was wondering if I applied to NYU, does this cover both campus’ when I sign up for audition dates.
Thank you!

These are not two campuses, but 2 ‘schools’ within the NYU campus. You can only apply to 1 school. Both have musical theater degrees, though Tisch’s is through drama/theater and Steinhardt’s through vocal performance/music. When you audition for Tisch, you can specify you would like to be admitted to the musical theater studio, but may be placed in a number of others instead. At Steinhardt you are applying only to Vocal Performance and once admitted specify Musical Theater or Opera; you get your choice. There is a large difference in emphasis in each school and you should review them by looking them up on the NYU website and in the separate entries at the top of the CC forum.

Mjredd, I, too, suggest that you have a look at the NYU website for each school. This should, ideally, have been done months ago! This is very late to be in a position of not knowing this basic information about programs where you want to audition/apply, especially at a school that is likely to cost you ~$60,000/yr!

My D is a sophomore at Tisch and when she was considering which school to apply to she attended both of their open houses and then was able to make her decision.

Hopefully this wasn’t a request by Mjredd for this audition year, as Steinhardt, at least, has a prescreen video requirement for which the application time has long since passed. You submit the video and then are invited to audition. Applicants are waiting for their invitations as I write this!

I am wondering if Mjredd is a prospective transfer student because he wrote last year that he auditioned for MT college programs and got into Sam Houston State and was going to attend this year.

Yes I am a transfer student, not an undergrad. And I am looking primarily at Steinhardt. Their deadline for the prescreening is March 1st.
Thank you! I just needed to know if by applying to an NYU school would make me able to audition for both.

Mjredd, my daughter is a sophomore at Steinhardt in MT, so feel free to ask any questions and I will get her replies or have her reply here as she is home for the holidays. Feel free also to send a PM or an email.

Thank you so much Christie2.
I will think of good concise questions and email you within the next week?

Great! We’ll be happy to answer them!
