I recently got a rejection letter from the University of Florida. I was extremely excited to go to the university and was sure that I was going to get in since my sister currently goes to the school and I have a high GPA along with a better than average SAT score. I am also an AP student with good grades. I have been taking AP classes all through high school and I am definitely NOT slacking off in my senior year. I am very high in my class and considered one of the best students at my school. I am apart of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and I volunteer at my school,so I have plenty of community service hours. I am NOT involved in any sports but your acceptance shouldn't be solely based on sports. Yet, I don't understand how UF could have rejected me. I understand there has been many people in the same position as me but I have heard that other people from my school got in and the only thing they have going for them is heavy involvement in sports. My father recently called admissions and left a message. They actually called back and my dad talked to them about what we could do. He then asked if they had an appeals process. (and the representative from UF seemed like he didn't want to tell my father about it) The admissions person finally said that their was an appeals process and that I had to call and ask about it after March 1st.
I also got into USF and planned on finishing my prerequisites there in one year and then transferring to UF's college of nursing.

So, should I appeal to UF or should I just go with the USF plan?
