Hey everybody.
I recently got admitted to UCSD and I am worried about my senior grades.
In the first semeter, I got 3.6 weighted, and 2.83 unweighted…
I am so worried.
Did they made the admission decision after seeing my first semester of senior grades or do I have to send the senior grades to them?

The decision to admit was made based on your GPA from from Soph/Junior course work only. You send you final transcript with Senior years grades AFTER you graduate. Also, from what I can tell, the required 3.0 in Senior year is UNWEIGHTED.

From the UCSD admissions page
(after you click "Start the Acceptance Process)

Conditions of Admission:

Your senior year grade point average (GPA) in all UC approved courses must be at least 3.00.

You must receive a "C" or better in all college preparatory courses taken in senior year.

If there are other conditions attached to your admission, an additional document will be mailed to you.

By July 15, 2006, we must receive:
Official high school transcript(s) indicating date of graduation. You must request that your school send it to us (including schools attended outside the United States).
Official test scores:
SAT Reasoning Test with critical reading, math and writing; or ACT Assessment plus Writing; and two SAT Subject Tests in two different areas.
If you graduated before October, 2005, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SATI) or ACT Test and three SAT II Subject Tests (sent directly from testing agency).
Official documents indicating that you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) tests or any college level UC transferable courses (sent directly from the schools).

You must:
1. Earn at least a "C" grade in any UC transferable college course taken during summer and/or fall, 2006;
2. Have official transcripts sent to UCSD within two weeks of completing the courses; and
3. Be in good academic standing at the institution attended.

Your admission will be subject to immediate cancellation:
1. If there are any inconsistencies between data reported on your application and official documents (transcripts and test scores).
2. If all provisions have not been met, regardless of your enrollment status.

Complete and submit the Statement of Legal Residence (online) by May 1, 2006, and the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) online or by mail postmarked by May 1, 2006., 2006.

Academic Changes:
Before making any changes in your work in progress or other academic changes you must notify an Admissions Officer in writing, preferably via E-mail: AdmissionStatus@ucsd.edu; or by mail: Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools, UCSD, 9500 Gilman Drive 0021, La Jolla CA 92093-0021.

You must report these changes so we can determine if you continue to meet our selection criteria.

Changes in admission provisions can only be made by an Admissions Officer. If you need clarification, please contact Admissions Evaluation Services via E-mail: AdmissionStatus@ucsd.edu.

ucsd's senior gpa is weighted.

you dont have alot to worry about.

Can you site your source on whether senior year is weighted or not for UCSD admission? Other campuses have specifically said unweighted.

Can you site your source on whether senior year is weighted or not? Other campuses have specifically said unweighted.

it's true the UC provision states a "3.0 unweighted GPA" (except I don't see it on UCSD's) but it is for the entire year, not looked at for individual semesters. It's not too late for kkang630 to make up the slight difference and pull off a 3.0. Depends how badly senioritis has set in!

is it weighted for SB?

ok it doesnt talk about that anywhere on the ucsb page it just says maintaine a 3.0 nothiing more or less

sd is the ONLY ONE that is weighted.

this information was obtained after contacting their admissions office via telephone.

Thanks everyone ! :D
I really gotta raise my senior grades

Hey i got a D in Jazz Band does that mean i'll get rescinded?
my dumb counselor says it doesn't matter as long as i send the admission office a letter about the grade because i've already finished the a - g requirements ( i took marching band and got A) Also, my Jazz Band teacher's willing to write a letter to admission office about how i'm doing better and if he were to grade me second semester it would be A or B

i hope i dont' get rescinded

"Official documents indicating that you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) tests or any college level UC transferable courses (sent directly from the schools)."
Do they care if you don't sent it in so you can retake the class in college. For example, if you get a 4 in AP test, but would like to take it over again in college, do you have to sent the grade in?

OH SNAP! I gots me a 2.80 UW. DO I need a 3.2 minimum for 2nd semester? I've got 4 APs right now.

SENIOR YEAR

1st semester 3.6 UW
2nd semester 2.9 UW

will I get in ?

the dip in grades because of some much basketball practice!!

I just called admission office to make sure
and as long as it is 3.0 weighted, you are fine.
Oh 3.0 weighted is an average of two senior semester's grades.

A earlier post indicated that only UCSD uses a weighted GPA for senior grades. You should assume that all other UCs use unweighted unless you get official information from an admissions office.

What if I get 4.0weighted first semester of senior year and then I get like.. 3.0weighted second semester of senior year? Big difference. Would they not like that?

I have 4 classes at my high school and took 2 community college courses.

i got a 3.1 waited GPA to SB...i should be ok!

Is it okay if I have D but over 3.0 weighted?

not if its in english or math
