To Become A Stern Scholar

I was not selected as a Stern Scholar this year, but is it really hard to get in after freshmen year? I know you have to have at least a certain GPA?
And what kind of benefits do scholars receive that regular stern students don't?

I'm not sure about how hard it is to get in. For the other question:

About 70 or so in the class of 500 are scholars. From what i've heard, a lot of them drop out as they can't keep the 3.5 GPA.

You get to take free trips abroad and u get some perks that are scholars only. Don't quote me on this, but I think it's stuff like going to restaurants, meeting company reps, movies, etc.

Stern average SAT this year is suppose to be around 1430. I'd put the average scholar at something above 1500. I know my friend with a 2250, 3.8 (crazy intense schedule), and an Intel Semifinalist didn't get in....so shrugs
