To Cal Poly SLO with no US History/American Ideals?

Hey everyone,
I would like to hear from some people familiar with this process, especially those of you coming from Cal Poly! I am an econ major at a CCC, my GPA is 4.0 and it should stay between a 3.8-4.0 before I transfer. My prerequisites will all be completed by the end of Spring semester prior to transfer.

My IGETC will be completed EXCEPT for the U.S. History and American Ideals courses. Cal Poly's selection criteria states specifically that students with those courses completed get priority. (How to Apply - Admissions - Cal Poly) How much will not having them done hurt my chances? Also, how much will it help me to complete as many prereqs as possible by the end of Fall instead of waiting for Spring to finish a few? Thanks!

My academic counselor said it didn't factor into the decision, when on the web site it clearly states that it matters. Academic counselors are pretty much useless. -_-

I missed the the required speech class and that is why I didnt get accepted. That is what I like to tell myself anyways. can you take it over the summer?

I am not transferring until Fall of NEXT year. I’m not in a rush to make up required classes. I have planned to take all my required classes and so far I am going along with that plan pretty successfully. These are two classes that are NOT required but are GE classes that are PREFERRED. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with not taking these classes but still getting into selective majors.
