to Cornell Transfers - this is killing me

Thanks a lot!

Seems like CALS and IRL takes the most by far. Is this because they have many guaranteed transfers?

In a word... yes. Ok, well, may "I think so, yes."

what do you guys think of this statement:

"External transfer applications for fall semester admissions have decreased 23 percent during the period from 1990 to 2005. During this same period, the number of external transfer acceptances increased 16 percent, with yield increasing 10 percent, in part through more judicious use of guaranteed transfer programs in several of the colleges. As a result, external transfer enrollment has grown over the past several years."

I wonder why applications decreased but hey less competition for me.

"Seems like CALS and IRL takes the most by far. Is this because they have many guaranteed transfers?"

yes, the true acceptance rate for those applying without a GT to ilr is in the high 20's to low 30's (as said by the dean of admission to ilr).

martini- i wouldn't worry about the online thing, it should change soon. (sorry about the long time to respond, spent the weekend in NYC)

I have it worse , I have to call and find out my decision. Do you know how bad it would feel if I'm rejected over the phone.

they'll send you a letter, you only need to call if you want to hear it sooner

yeah I know but I don't have time to wait for a letter because of Rutgers and my housing. So I have no choice but to call and find out.

I don't want to get all psychological on you... but this is just one of many important decisions that will be made face-to-face (uh, or phone-to-phone) in your life... so it's good start practicing. And who cares... you gonna get in, right? :D

Of course I'll get in.......(Hopefully). This isn't the first important decision that I have gotten over the phone. I tend to become anxious with 11 days remaining. So what I'm trying to say is ..... PLEASE CORNELL ACCEPT ME!!1

"I tend to become anxious with 11 days remaining."

How do you know when decisions will come out?

The ILR decisions will be available over the phone the 21 of April. That is what admissions told me when I went to Transfer Day.

When are CALS decisions? I heard they were on a rolling basis... Any idea?

I don't know when CALS decision are but my roommate called CALS because he is applying to AEM and they said they can put you on a list if you need your decision ASAP. I don't know if it'll work but it's worth a shot.

32.8% of men accepted to College of Engineering for 2005 without guarenteed transfers. Hmm. Hopefully I'm top 30% this year!
