In the case of Spanish Language, I found the semester rather unproductive. I came from Spanish 2 to AP Spanish Lang this year, and so far, I wasn't satisfied with my progress. I feel as if I was riding on a highway at 100 mph, and can't control myself. From college-level questions to college-level vocabulary, the class's difficulty compels me to drop it next semester.

Good news is I have all the credits for language in California. But having talked about this issue with my counselor before heading off to Winter Break, she thinks that I should stay and get that A nonetheless so that I would "look good" (boost GPA) for college admissions. So did the college counselor. But I'm divided over this issue.

Honestly, I'm not interested in looking good. I've only been studying Spanish for 2 years, and it didn't help. I'd rather be fluent and conversational than pass a test. After all, only through fluency can I expect to pass a test.

I'm confident that through self-study, I can accomplish more. Polyglots Benny Lewis and Luca Lampariello are living proofs of this idea. It will take me about a year with consistency and hard work to reach there.

I want to hear from the community. Would it be better to stick with the course anyway (bc gpa is a concern), or drop it and focus on language learning by myself?

Thanks.
