<p>Stocks or Commodities?</p>
<p>I am married to a Commodities trader. He has two degrees from MIT. One is in chemical engineering and the other is from the Sloan School (business).</p>
<p>Can’t go wrong with either imo but I would probably pick mathematics because there are probably more math grads than stat grads on the street</p>
<p>D is beginning work at a BB as a trader in June . She interned last summer. Her major is none of the above. She took several statistics courses, calculus, accounting and corp. finance in college as electives. She is also an IT minor, so she knows her way around computer programming pretty well.</p>

<p>What school do you go to? Not all schools are target schools that firms will look at. </p>
<p>Do you want to be a trader? Or do you want to work for a trading/options company? </p>
<p>Anyone can be a trader? Those who work for trading/options companies tend to be programmers because most of those companies deal with trading platforms. </p>
<p>I was an Economics major with heavy math, stats, and computer programming background. I applied to dozens of jobs at firms in Chicago and New York. I was told my GPA was too low for trading (3.65).</p>
