Well, seeing as my chances of getting into a good college are rather slim due to the Average SAT Scores I received, I wanted to know if it is possible to get into Harvard with the low SAT Scores in my possession. I mean, my overall score is a 1660. With a 590 in Critical Reading, a low 520 in Math, and a 550 in Writing. I know my chances are slim of ever getting accepted into Harvard, and although I know that most colleges look at Applications holistically, I still can't train my mind to understand that SAT's are not the most important aspect in the application. Yet they do hold as much weight as the rest of my application so they still continue to worry me. Has anybody ever heard of a person with a low SAT Score relative to mine get into Harvard? I am also not a fantastic person who goes across countries to save the world one starving baby at a time. I am in the IB Program however, and am very interested in Drama. So how are the chances guys? Should I apply anyways and see if I get in? I mean if I don't apply then I have no chance. But if I do apply, then I have a slim chance, but the slip of rejection hurts, you know?

I do not think that you have any chance. A 650/800 section is quite low by Harvard’s standards. Even one 590, accompanied by two 800s on a borderline app, could kill you. All three less than 600? Not happening. Anyone disagree, think this poster has a shot?

(Although do take the ACT, in case it’s significantly higher; I very much doubt that it will be within Harvard range, but it might be higher enough to boost your chances at some less-selective colleges you’d like.)

I agree . Chances are very slim .

…yeah, slim to none. I’m no expert tho. But study really hard and take it again. IFF you can get it in the 1900’s you may have a shot. Maybe. But you know how it is, everyone and their momma wants to get into Harvard, so it’s gunna be all sorts of tough.
But if you already sent EA, i guess all you can do it hope for the future :)

Thank you everyone for your input! All I can do is hope for the future. We’ll see what God’s plans are for me! :D

you don’t need perfect scores whatsoever; I think the average SAT score Harvard accepts is around 2150? don’t quote me though, and I know plenty of freshman this year who were actually as low as 1800, its all about the interview, EC’s, and essays. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone…
