I’d put Toronto and McGill roughly on the level of Michigan. UBC slightly below…perhaps NYU level.

Waterloo is very good in engineering (the best in Canada, I think), and its computer science program is extremely famous (like Carnegie Mellon). The co-op program is well-established and successful.

I agree with IBClass06. Might also compare UBC to Wisconsin.

The THES/QS ranking is not very popular among CC’ers, but, from an international perspective, apart from Stanford’s and Berkeley’s lower-than-expected ranking, the list above is on average an accurate depiction of how North American (research) universities are perceived overseas in terms of prestige.

Does anyone know how hard it is to get into UBC Vancouver campus as an american?

I see. Thanks everyone.

Small, I’m not sure if you’re an american, but having lived in vancouver for 9 years, I find that UBC is not hard to get in at all. If you’re international it might be different, but I think it’s much better than an international applying to US.

And I really don’t like UBC, but that’s just me.

Yes, thank you, a friend is looking at it because her sister is going to grad school there
