Basically, the thread means those who is a friend to a person whose boyfriend/girlfriend is also your friend.

Anyways, one of them has her birthday coming and I already have an idea of a gift to give to her. It's one of those gifts that gives you the "Eureka" moments during Christmas holidays when you're shopping for your friends and loved ones, and this object really reminds me of her and her herself.

My problem is, how will this be perceived to my male friend who has a high school relationship with this girl? As an intrusion to their relationship, trying to steal his lover, or just a friend being...a friend? He knows I'm a friend to the girl.

I never had this delimma before. I don't want to get into a feud because of this possible misunderstanding nor do I not want to give this girl a gift as a friend, saying a simple "Happy Birthday" will no doubt feel empty for both of us.

Yeah, I could give it to her in secret, but I feel that's a betrayal to my male friend and could implicate other ideas if found out beyond the girl and me.

One of the actions I'll most likely take is talking to him about this. However, he might not be truthful after a recent past event in which I had no involvement. It's this event (I won't give out details) that might cause him to generate suspicious thoughts I mentioned in the first post.

BTW, these two are quite possibly the two close/best friends I've had so far, so I really don't want to alienate any of them, even if I can afford to.
