To quit or not to quit?

A little BG: Hi, i'm sure that I want to attempt for the IVIES. I have a 4.0 unweighted; all APs; members of NHS; I hold leadership positions in some clubs (math team, debate team); I have started a club; etc, etc.

I have been on track since the beginning of the track season this year (my sophomore year).

I don't really like it. The only reason I joined was "to look good." Now! Before you chastise me: I know that this is bad, and that I should do things because I'm "passionate, and yadayada."

So, I'm just wondering if I should quit track as of now or should I just stick with it my remaining 3 years of high school?

I know that I'm not going to be a recruited athlete; how much of a "boost" would be in track provide me?

Would being just a plain member of track provide any boost to admissions, or am I just wasting my time?

Is it worth practicing every day of the week except for Sundays?

I really want to quit because I realize that I'm not running for fun, but for "padding the resume," but... I recognize that, inevitably, some padding HAS to be done.

Thanks in advance!

Being a plain member would hardly provide that boost.

Pad your resume with something that you have interest in and are willing to be heavily involved in.

No, by the way you phrase it, you don’t understand it.

And yes, from what you’ve said, you should quit. Find a few clubs/sports/activities you DO like and pursue those.

You don’t “have” to do anything. It’s completely up to you.

That being said, no, being a plain member doesn’t look very spectacular, and I do recommend quitting if you don’t enjoy it.

And…

Doesn’t sound like you’re giving the argument much thought. Confirmation bias ftl.
