I applied for three schools this year, and the results were not favorable. I am currently in the 10th grade and I applied to the 11th grade. I noticed that it would be to my advantage to re-apply for the 11th grade, as there are fewer openings for each grade. I asked my parents about this, and they did not like the idea of repeating as they thought that the schools in question would be less likely to accept me if I was going to repeat a year. How can I explain this concept of repeating to my parents?

tell them that it’s necessary to apply as a repeat junior, because most schools don’t even take seniors…

in terms of the repeat soph/new junior situation, tell them that there are waaaay fewer spots for new juniors, so it’s obviously a lot harder. i don’t think it’s that hard to comprehend? fewer spots = more selective = more advantageous to repeat 10th than apply 11th

same question but i’m going to be a frosh and i want to know if it’s better to repeat.

same here lol

the pros of repeating frosh year: easier social adjustment, easier time adjusting to academic courseload. con: ADDITIONAL YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL?!?!

so that kind of made the decision for me. i’ll be applying as a new sophomore :)

you’re re-applying swissbrit? i thought you got in… o.O

Nah I got rejected to Andover, low ISEE score. I actually thought that I was gonna get waitlisted but well I didn’t . But next year I am going to apply to like 10 schools as a repeat 9th graders because I don’t mind the extra year of HS.

Wait Rad, you did not get into any schools ?

I need to repeat as a soph instead of applying as a junior but my parents won’t let me. I have to convice them.

If I repeat soph then I may be in the class of some of this years rejects

I got into NMH but w/ no FA and the option of waitlisting to wait for some fa to float down the stream…
and i got waitlisted at williston for fa reasons :/

thanks 2010! rejectedgrumble

Woah that is so unlucky, I feel so bad for you. I heard that NMHs budget just got sliced in 2 or something like that…

yeah, stupid stock market :(

I agree but I do want to be a Investment Banker but not like the C R A P ones who caused all this mess lol

I didn’t mean to call people who didn’t get in rejects I meant people to call them rejected people but rejects was just shorter.

lol its cool I was not offended :D

I don’t know what schools to apply to next year, I def want to apply to more safeties (NMH, Peddie, Berkshire, Lawrence, Concord) but IDK if I should reapply to schools that rejected me.

i was joking btw lol yeah, berkshire seems good for you. their academics aren’t that good though. There’s like no comparison between that and Exeter + it’s like every other wk there’s work

“berkshire seems good for you”

Are you implying that I am not Exeter material… haha :)

no i mean that you seem like a ‘fit’ with their general…atmosphere

What kind of “atmosphere”?

not a super-nerd book loving, super harry potter fan atmosphere? (no offense)
