To study for the PSAT should you follow the SAT directions?

This is such a great resource -- thanks to all. My daughter (rising junior) will be taking the PSAT in the fall and SAT in the spring. She want to do the bulk of her preparation this summer.

To prepare for the PSAT should she basically just prepare for the SAT? Would doing the Blue Book, as recommended, be the way to go?

I see Silverturtle recommends the Direct Hits vocab books. Do others concur?

I know I have some reading on the site to see all the preparation plans, but I basically wondered whether there were other things to do for the PSAT.

Thanks again.

The PSAT is VERY similar to the SAT. The table here explains the differences: [PowerScore SAT Preparation | Free SAT Help Area](What is the PSAT? | PowerScore). I think the blue book is a great resource for studying for the PSAT. Your daughter can also get a full PSAT practice test from her guidance counselor and work through the practice questions here: [PSAT/NMSQT: Preparing](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Studying and Practicing for the PSAT/NMSQT – SAT Suite).

If she works through all of the practice tests in the blue book preparing for the PSAT, she can get 10 more real tests from the College Board online course when she is ready to study for the SAT. Note that it’s a quite a bit more expensive, though. Best of luck to her!

Thanks – it really looks like the descriptions of questions are the same, but the number of questions differs between the PSAT and SAT. Thanks for the resources.
