I know. After joining CC, I feel like the world is full of smart people who are predestined to attend Ivy League and all the prestigious schools.

I don’t know how you people manage to handle 8 APs . . . .

it also depends on the culture at your school. i mean, at mine, i can think of at least ten kids that have taken 8+ APs, most of whom will not be attending ivies. then again, we offer 20… it’d be different if we offered 10 and someone took every single one.

plus, i get the feeling that APs are harder at some schools than others. AP is treated like an easier honors course here. it’d be weird to be in the top 10% and not take 3 or more APs…

Yeah, the difficulty of AP’s definitely depends on the school. At my school, the most AP’s that a student can take over the course of one year is 4, and that is unusual for senior year, and almost unheard of for junior year. Only one AP can be taken sophomore year, so really the most AP’s that a person can take at my high school. My school only offers 11 AP courses anyways, so to take 9 is quite an accomplishment.

i got a few B’s in science freshman, sophomore and junior year. I think I got a c junior year for one quarter in physics, though it might have been a b minus. I had a few B’s in math to though I was able to pull a 90 regularly every year. usually the B came in one bad quarter if it came at all. Math and science aren’t my favorite subjects at all, but I got lucky with my math teachers and all but one of my science teachers-had they not been so nice I’d have done worse.

wow 4 APs a year is the norm in my school.

but yeah, difficulty of APs depends on the school

Availability depends to. Its impossible to do 4 APs a year in my school except for in senior year, and even that is kind of rare given the low number of classes(scheduling conflict come up a lot).

I go to a very uncompetitive high school, and got these B’s:

Freshman Year: B+ Honors Math B Chemistry/Physics

Sophomore Year: B+ World Studies A B+ World Studies B B- Honors Math I B- Honors Math II …

Junior Year: B+ AP US History I … B+ AP US History II… B- Honors Math… B Chemistry… B+ Honors Latin 4

Senior Year: B+ AP British Literature … B+ AP Biology

I guess it’s not all about grades. Like other people said, it’s about being well-rounded, and I guess in my case, ambitious. Make the most out of your high school! If something’s not offered, create it. They like that.

B+ AP BIOLOGY senior year first semester

lol i never got a B throughout high school but i did get a B in 8th grade science that counts for my high school transcript

C algebra 2 freshman year, b’s in alg 1, geometry, precalc and calc. A+ in BC Calc. =) it happens. if my advice counts for anything, just do your best, never give up, and move forward. so long as you never lose hope and sight of your goals you’ll be fine.

B in both precalc and algebra 2.
Algebra’s not my thing.
Took 7 APs + AP english language, which at my school is a honors class for some reason I don’t entirely understand (AP english language curriculum, we take the AP english language exam at end of the year, but goes on transcript as “lit honors”)
Accepted ED.
Go to a top 100 in the nation (usually in the 50s by newsweeks rankings), rather competitive public school.

im a hero story to the underachievers i bet:
in my freshman year i got a B in: spanish 2, geometry, and us history 1 (all honors schedule)
sophomore year i got a B in: spanish 3, algebra, chemistry (all honors and an AP us history)
junior year: straight As in a 2AP 4honors course load
senior year: straight As in a 5 AP course load.

just gotta show them you are going to be serious in college.

I got tons of B’s.
Freshman year: B-s, B, and B+s in Alg II, French II, H Bio. other two classes were A-s
Sophomore Year: B and B- in Pre-Ap Chem
1st Semester Senior Year: B in Pre-AP Physics, B+ in AP Calc BC, and B in H Debate

Now, sophomore year I got A-s to A+s in 5 classes, 9 junior year, and 6 senior year

so, dont worry about an 88 verses a 90 too much

Lol, I got Bs in every single math class I ever took in high school, except Pre-Calculus (because we had a sub for the majority of the year, watched television and ate pizza. No lie.)

I’m not a math person. :/

B+ in APUSH (first ap class. i was happy with it)
B+ in physics (i never knew what was happening in that class)

:)
