Hey guys,
I’m a freshman at American University, and I’m already feeling dissatisfied. I don’t feel nearly challenged enough here, have plenty of friends but still not feeling as though I fit in with the environment, really im just feeling a nebulous feeling of not belonging. I know it’s normal to question things as a freshman, but I think of transferring every day, which to me is a sign. I’ve been looking pretty heavily at Georgetown. It has the more competitive liberal arts environment that I’m looking for, and I love the campus vibe. Plus I’d still have access to DC, a city that I couldn’t bear to leave behind.
I’ve always been pretty into theatre and journalism, and am also looking at Northwestern as a transfer option. This may seem like the obvious choice, as GTown isn’t as heavily known for these subjects. So I was wondering if there anyone who knew a little bit about any of this…what it’s like to transfer to either of these places, how the theatre/journalism scene is at GTown, if I should even transfer to begin with, and so on. My stats so far (I’m still working on building up a solid portfolio)
CC GPA: 4.0
HS GPA: 3.65 (from a competitive private school)
ACT: 30 (im planning on retaking it)
ECs: Opinions columnist for the school paper, program chair of Community Service Coalition, Alternative Breaks (a study abroad program for school breaks.)
Thanks!!
