Hi i'm currently a MSE virginia tech studen and finished my freshman year up. Currently i have a 3.9 GPA overall and I am wondering if I should transfer schools in order for better future opportunities. I'm wondering whether or not to stay at this school and perform well or risk transferring to another school and have the chance of not standing out? I don't know what school to transfer to either... UVA, Stanford, Cornell, Gtech? Also if i were to graduate from one of these schools are they well connected to big engineering companies that will help aid with finding a job? I'm currently happy at with what school i'm at but feel like I'll also be happy wherever I go.

Sounds like you want to transfer for the wrong reasons.

It’d be good to realistically evaluate the situation.

It seems like you are doing well at VT both socially and academically (based on what you told us).

The only reason I’d transfer is if VT doesn’t give you enough of a challenge. If this is the case wait until next year and then see if you feel the same way. It will get harder.

Also, recruiting at most engineering schools is the same I would think save for MIT, Carnegie etc.
