to USC Marshall Students: Do you like it?

Tell me all about the:
Girls/Guys
Program
Academic Rigor
Strictness
Residential Areas
Nightlife
Social Life
City Life
Drive a Car?

ETC ETC ETC

I want to know everything. I haven't gotten in yet but I want to know whether I'm missing out if I get rejected, or if I am totally dodging a bullet. I just really want to know more about Marshall in general. I'd love to go there either way, who am I kidding?

yea i wanna know that too...especially about academic rigor part...

me too! 10 char

Not sure if these things relate to marshall or usc in general so I'll try cover both.

Girls/Guys- Marshall people are really social and many of them are very self motivated. Girls here are almost all hot and care about their appearance, guys pretty much the same maybe a little less.
Program- Its pretty straightforward which classes u gotta take and most of them are pretty good with really qualified professors.
Academic Rigor- Extremely easy compared to high school. I spend about 4 hours a week studying for 4 Marshall classes.
Strictness- Not sure what this relates to. If you mean classes some teachers make u attend while others dont care. If you mean staying out of trouble at SC in general, pretty much you wont get into any major serious trouble unless you A). cheat on a test B) become a MAJOR narcotrafficer
Residential Areas- Uh ask about a specific one some are complete sh%tshows 24/7 while others are dead silent at all time.
Nightlife- Theres fraternity row and there is random apartment parties.
Social Life- Pretty much the same social opportunities as at any other college.
City Life/Drive a Car- If you don't have a car no city life for you. Los Angeles is a pretty cool city but since the area around sc is so crappy it actually turns out to be a good thing because people all hang around in a concentrated area. A LOT of people drive home every weekend, too. I highly recomend you get a car and parking but dont become one of those kids who goes home to mom and dad every thursday night and come back on monday morning (and believe me there are a lot of people who do this).

Overall: USC compared to other school rated in its caliber is more social, less academically rigorous, and kind of carries the personality of the Hollywood culture.

^^ How are the job opportunities?? especially for propective i-bankers who may want to move to new york after graduation??

Wow. Great post uscfootball. I love everything about it hahah.. who am I kidding. I want to go so badly. What you study uscfootball??

Any other comments from anyone else? more opinions?

^
Job opportunities are excellent. If you want to I-Bank in New York, NYU Stern is a good choice as well.

Really briefly, in response to the first post:

Girls/Guys: :) :)
Program: The big intro classes are so-so, but the program really shines in upper-division courses.
Academic Rigor: Reasonable. Fairly easy to get a B, quite a bit tougher to get an A.
Strictness: Not sure what you mean
Residential Areas: Lots of different choices - if you want a well-maintained serene dorm, try Parkside. If you are looking for the traditional college experience, go to New/North.
Nightlife: There's a 9-0, and Greek Row, and I think busses take people to a club downtown on Tuesdays nights.
Social Life: 5 stars.
City Life: Surrounding area is kinda meh, to be honest. I'm not a huge fan of LA, personally. But I love the school! :)
Drive a Car?: I'd say yes, it's nice when you need to make a shopping run or take a trip somewhere.

^^ well not everyone can get into NYU or even wants to go there....but sfgiants do you know anyone who got an i-banking job in New York from USC??

I do know one person who got job offer from both Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Aside from that person, I know about 3 others who got i-banking offers but I don't know the details about which company, location, etc, other than the fact that they seemed thrilled.

Tell me all about the:
Girls/Guys: Smart driven students, a lot of diversity (indian/asian), very smart sorority girls, and a lot of greek guys. Overall pretty equal ratio and good kids.
Program: I am finance and same with everyone else. Marketing is good but earn less $$, accounting is really good.
Academic Rigor: It gets harder as you progress. Difficult classes and decent workloads.
Strictness: Depends on the teacher.
Residential Areas: No relation to Marshall, no one cares where you live.
Nightlife: I have a 3.75 in a fraternity and can party T, TH, Sat and go out like to movies on Fri. I.E you can have a nightlife. If you don't wanna go Greek there are other options through the dorms. HOWEVER if your a guy or even I girl Greek life is awesome at USC. I didnt think it was for me, but really best decision I ever made.
Social Life: See above
City Life: LA suckls, I mean I dont like the crowdedness and the yuppy hollywood vibe.
Drive a Car: Yes it helps

Other: Recruitment by KMPG, Proctor & Gamble, PaulHastings, PWC. Just get involved, MEET PROFESSORS, and school pays big dividens.

How's the finance program/recruitment in particular, do you know? I'm an East Coast kid who is more familiar with Wall Street and Greenwich Hedge Fund type job recruitment than whatever's out West. Care to shed some light?
