English Language Proficiency

Hello,

I have made a mistake by not taking TOEFL. I have applied to 2 universities and now I do not have English language proficiency proof to show. I have taken SAT but scores are not available yet.

What should I do now? Is it ok to take TOEFL on the nearest test date?

which 2 universities are you talking about ?

Texas A&M - Kingsville and University of North Texas

Buzz

In most cases you can request a TOEFL waiver by scoring >600 in the CR section of the SAT I. Since your scores aren’t available, ask them if the 4 years of English in high school is enough to meet the proficiency requirement.

@Lolface849 No, they said.

That’s odd. I think it’s pointless taking the TOEFL because by the time you take it and send your scores, your STA score reports will have reached them. Your SAT scores typically take <2 weeks to reach the college. All you can do is notify admissions that this is your predicament and ask them for some assistance on this matter.

At UNT, they told me that I can apply to UNT’s English Language Institute in which no TOEFL is required but they also said that “You should apply before you get accepted”.

Should I apply? But I am not sure if I will get accepted or not. @Lolface849

This is really messed up. I mean, apply. There’s no harm in trying out. But this is very unusual. Are you sure this is the only way out?

Yes

Well then, good luck. Send your SAT scores to the college.

Sent it.
