My ED college waived TOEfL requirement for me because primary language of instruction in my school is ENglish. I emailed them and they said they'll take care of it for me. Is it a good gesture?

what do you mean “is it a good gesture?”
If you mean “are they doing it just for me”, not they’re not. They have a policy, which is written in their books and thus cannot be changed regardless of students, that if your school teaches in English you don’t have to prove you can understand classes in English, since presumably the fact you’re in that school proves it. However they’ll be interested in your SAT or ACT results instead.

That’s standard procedure, just like a curtesy email notifying you that your application is complete or 1-on-1 help with a confusing section of the application. It’s not an indication of your chances of admission.

Haha @MYOS… I didn’t mean they are doing it just for me… I meant is it good that a college waives TOEFL requirement for INternational students so easily?? I mean, I have not heard any instances of students from our country being waived for TOEFL for the reason mentioned above by me… I am not saying I have an upper hand in the application process… haha

it’s pretty standard that if you’ve attended an English speaking high school and will receive an English language diploma, you don’t have to take the TOEFL. Entire countries are exempt and within other countries (such as India) it depends on the school. That emails only means the school considers your school is English speaking and therefore they’ll look into your SAT/ACT score but won’t need the TOEFL since you’re considered fluent already.

didn’t the email contain one of these?

Thank you for contacting office of undergraduate admission of X or,
Thank you for your interest in our university?

they sent such mails to all. It’s no a good gesture and undergrad admission office isn’t about entertainment.

haha … NO, I mailed directly to the International admission officer of my ED college. I have been in contact with her since 4 months… admission officers are always sluggish in replying to each and every queries and always give robotic answers so its better that way…
