Does a higher TOEFL score mean a higher chance of acceptance like the SATI Reasoning exam? For instance does a 120 look for favorable in admissions compare to a 113? Also, does MIT look at individual sections?

I plan on taking the SATI anyways but I'm assuming it wouldn't hurt to submit TOEFL scores anyways to show my English fluency. I'm just curious on whether I should retake a 113 or not :/

Admissions takes your highest scores, so might as well submit them both :)

With the SATs, Admissions doesn’t care much about scores past 700. Though I believe with the TOEFL, they do tend to care more without a similar threshold, simply because all the classes here are taught in English, so it’s really important that you understand it.

@PiperXP: Thanks for the reply I grew up in the States for more than half my life and attended an international school for the rest, so my English is pretty much perfect (much better than my native language). You think they would look down upon a 113 in TOEFL considering that fact?

Gah… I should’ve studied for at least a day I felt so confident that I would be able to score well because everyone said the test was super easy.

I’m not sure what’s considered a good score for the TOEFL - but from my understanding (which is limited in this area), the TOEFL is easier than the SAT I CR, so it might be suspicious if your score for it is low O.o If you’re taking the SAT anyway, though, hopefully that will display better skills.

Yea I’m get consistent 800s (at least above 750) in my Critical reading skills on my practice exams. Just I bombed the writing section on TOEFL sigh

don’t retake a 113. however, if you grew up in the states, even if it’s not your ‘native’ language (language spoken at home?) you may not meet our TOEFL replacement requirements. i’m not quite sure what your situation is so it’s hard for me to say.

but if you’re getting high 700s on the CR/writing of the SAT…dunno why you’re taking the TOEFL to begin with…
