Caeleb Dressel’s win was amazing and his emotion when he saw his family was beautiful.

I tried to find a gym for my 8year old and couldn’t.

I believe cross country in equestrian is on tonight at 6:45pm EDT. Can anyone confirm that? For whatever reason I can’t get NBC’s site up right now - could be due to our local tower which is iffy sometimes…

H loved watching sailing and windsurfing last night. I was too tired to stay up past 12:30 or so.

Suni. Lee. GOLD!!

I believe it’s Saturday the 31st at 7:30 although there is a reference to individual events starting tonight. Not sure what that means.

Thanks - and that came up for me, so I’m not sure why my bookmark didn’t earlier… Technology - great when it works, really confusing when it doesn’t!

In the pictures/videos I have seen of her since she withdrew from the team competition, Simone looks like a totally different person. Stress and pressure seem to have melted away. Hopefully she can find a good balance that allows for happiness.

We flipped through the different channels showing events last night. Watched part of the women’s rugby competition, it’s a sport I’ve not watched before and I enjoyed it. We also watched the US men’s beach volleyball match with Lucena and Dahlhauser. They are 41 years old and still playing at that level. Also caught a bit of badminton but I didn’t enjoy that as much.

This explains to me a little about what Simone Biles might be going through. From the amazing Sally Jenkins

Watched a bit of 3x3 basketball and was not impressed; kind if looked crowded and silly. Men’s final had some eye popping moments. A Russian player’s shoe disintegrated on the court, and he went on to tape it together. OMG, don’t they have spare shoes? A Latvian player seriously wrecked his ankle but decided to tape it and continue only to injure it further. Sigh. Happy the Latvian team won the gold despite being down one player! Hope the Latvian guy gets appropriate medical care for his injury and Russia splurges on a couple of extra pairs of shoes for its silver medalists.

I watched also and commented above that the play was terrible. Team USA’s women’s team had Stephanie Dolson (UConn), Kelsey Plum (UWash), etc., who are WNBA players and very good ones. I enjoyed their gold medal game, which they won 18-15, much better than the men’s final.

The men’s final was plain embarrassing, IMO. Reaching, grabbing, pushing, and then with almost no time on the clock, the players would throw up an air ball, or some other heinous shot. You mean, you can’t go to any NYC court in the park and find a threesome better than that? Come on.

Lol, good summary. Don’t even need to go to NYC, there are some decent ones playing on the court in the local park here north of Seattle (where we have a lousy D-1 team and no pro basketball team)! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yes! They really need to change the culture in gymnastics, it’s so sad how gymnasts were mistreated. I also read an article where gymnasts said that they were kept away from their families and that the Karolyi Ranch was kind of weird because it was in the middle of nowhere and there was poor cell phone reception and how a lot of people think that helped contribute to the culture of abuse. You know, keep the gymnasts isolated…
That’s too bad that gyms wouldn’t let in a 13 year old…what is wrong with a 13 year old wanting to start gymnastics? Nothing!

Did you see this?

Absolutely disgusting! What is wrong with this Piers Morgan guy anyway? He’s not perfect and he sounds like some immature person, who never grew up

Piers doesn’t get to say a darned thing about this until he walks across a balance beam in a sparkly leotard on live tv.

And then nails the landing.

Eta: the GOAT has nothing to prove to nobody. She has more grit in her taped up toes than anyone I can think of.

Piers is all about causing controversy. Only way people pay any attention to him.

Watching Michael Phelps commentary. The scruffy beard just isn’t working for him, too long and noticeable grays. Why would he go on tv looking like that?
