^amen, give us a couple of years.....and a QB..... and we'll be back.

Here's a summary of the yardage differential in Big Ten play...

1 Illinois +120 YPG
2 Penn State +98.4 YPG
3 Northwestern +39.25 YPG
4 Iowa +38.25 YPG
5 Ohio State +31.6 YPG
6 Wisconsin +9 YPG
7 Michigan State +7 YPG
8 Purdue -54 YPG
9 Minnesota -61.8 YPG
10 Indiana -72.5 YPG
11 Michigan -178 YPG

I don't know what blinders some of you have on, but Michigan is by far the worst team in the conference. Beating Wisconsin was nothing short of a miracle.

Jeff Sagain's CPU rankings currently has Michigan 92nd, behind 7 1-AA teams and 7 MAC schools. God help us if they drop another game before Nov 15th and have a meaningless home game against NW. I would be shocked if a 3-7 or 2-8 Michigan team would draw 100,000+ for NW, which would end ANOTHER streak. This season is KILLING me.

Just because I don't think the University of Michigan is god's gift to man, that does not mean I am not a huge fan. I've grown up watching Michigan football, have many family connections at the school and have been to the Big House dozens of times. Unlike you Alexandre, my family has paid taxes to the state of Michigan, which generously funds the university, for a decade so I have every right to be a fan of the school and voice my discontent of its current performance. I am optimistic that Rodriguez will turn things around next year but a 2-10 or a 3-9 year for Michigan is unforgivable and State fans will never let us Wolverines hear the end of it.

"As a lifelong Wolverine fan, I would much rather have Michigan make a bowl game this year and keep the streak alive than go to a better bowl game sometime in the future. I'm tired of looking to the future. It's time for results NOW!!!"

Most knowledgeable fans realize that there will be a much faster turnaround if we start off with the spread from the get-go. The idea that we need to "change the offense to fit the talent" is crap. Style of offense has nothing to do with injuries, an inaccurate quarterback, an ungodly amount of fumbles on kick returns, and a crappy secondary.

"Who would have thought that the winningest football program of all-time would go 2-10 or 3-9 in any football season?"

One of the dumber things you could have possibly said. It happened to the second winningest program (Notre Dame) last year, and they didn't even have a coaching transition to deal with. Texas is 3rd winningest program, and they went 4-7 back in 1997. Oklahoma is 4th, and they were 3-8 in 1996 in part of a 5 year span where they failed to finish above .500.

"Unlike you Alexandre, my family has paid taxes to the state of Michigan, which generously funds the university, for a decade so I have every right to be a fan of the school and voice my discontent of its current performance."

I don't know ring-of-fire, I think my family's paying full out-of-state tuition for four long years entitles me to demand just as much out of Michigan as you do. I somehow doubt your family paid more than $150,000 in taxes to the University of Michigan.

But I think you should stop the charade of pretending that you grew up a Michigan fan. Clearly, you grew up in a non-Wolverine household. And there is nothing wrong with that. However, pretending that you did grow up a rabid Michigan fan just to validate your over-the-top, mostly-wrong evaluation of Michigan and your constent downgrading of this top university isn't the way to go about it.

And I do not expect one to think that Michigan is "God's gift to man". I certainly don't think it is. I am often critical of the school, particularly in the way it puts the good of the state above its own good. And I fully admit that there are better universities out there. But when somebody only has negative things to post about Michigan, I think it is pretty clear where they stand.

Well said Alexandre.

What, we didn't have results in the last 10 years? National championship, multiple Rose Bowl appearances, etc... Hell, at this point 2 years ago we were the #2 rank team. I'd rather see us take a brutal year if it means a faster transition.

Bowl streak's been snapped.

It was snapped when we lost to Toledo! LOL! Our supposely good defense allowed Purdue's Mickey Mouse Offense 48 points. I think we should take a serious look at this Defensive Coordinator. With the talent we had on defense, allowing an average of 32 points per game is unacceptable.

The other problem is that the offense leaves the defense on the field way too long. I don't care how good of a shape you are in, nobody can play 45 minutes out of a 60 minute game and not be exhausted.

Yes I agree with Alexandre, Michigan defense should have performed better than this.

Scott Shafer should be blamed

areyou guys serious??? the ONLY thing that can be blamed for this season, is the fact that rich rodriguez is running an offense he doesn't have the players for...the defense isnt good, but when you have negative yardage in a game, that all offense. When rich can start to recruit players to his own game plan, then maybe they'll start to have a chance, but my god michigan is the laughing stock of all college football right now

Relax guys, it will get better for you, this is coming from an Irish fan. Maybe not next year, but in a couple of years, you're going to be a force to be reckoned with. Good luck.

A lot of fans, myself included, expected the first season to be tough, but not this bad. In retrospect, I should not be surprised. A completely new coaching staff with a drastically different coaching philosophy and an entirely new offense (I think 7 of our starters on offense are Freshmen!).

I agree that next year will also be tough, but probably better than 0.500. I would give the RR at least three seasons before expecting consistant results.

Alexandre, I would just like to hear you say you were wrong. Honestly, I think this trend is going to continue for the next several seasons. They are changing the type of play and the type of players they are recruiting. I look forward to Penn State having a nice streak of wins over Michigan in the coming years.

Oh sure jec7483 Alexandre is going to say Penn State will have a nice streak over Michigan in the coming years. LOL. You are like the MSU fans that I've been reading in the Detroit Free Press cureent season. I suggest your school try to win at least three games in a row before you get too cocky. I seem to recall Michigan had a NINE game winning streak over you beloved Nittany Lions before this year.

Our linebackers and secondaries have huge problems with their tackling and that to me is unnacceptable because they never seem to improve and is the reason they got their asses handed to them on a silver platter in many if not all their games so far. Next year Michigan will be different,if it's good or bad, who knows. But we will have a new QB who is a dual threat next year, either Tate Forcier or Shavodrick Beaver. This fundamentally changes the offense and gives RR many opportunities not open to him this year and not to mention his playbook will be univeiled. But whatever happenes, we CANNOT lose focus on our OSU game. Miracles can happen. We CAN beat OSU. ('69 in case some of you forgot....God bless you Bo) I believe that we will come back much quicker than many of you believe. Oh and btw, I enjoy reading your posts Alexandre, they're very insightful.

jec, I was definitely wrong. I have admitted as much. I also agree that for the next season or two, Michigan will not be great, so PSU could end this with a 2-3 game winning streak. I don't see PSU beating Michigan 5 or 6 straight times though...let alone 9 straight times.

I assume this means your family paid Michigan taxes over a decade ago. LOL
