Let us hope that Threet is healthy against MSU. Without Threet, A2Wolves prediction of a 2-10 season will most likely be a reality.

Another glimmer of hope dashed...

Threet will be ready to play this sat against MSU

Wow, I can't believe you actually led for a half. I was really surprised when Rich Rod took out Threet. He made a lot of Nittany Lion fans happy by taking him out. I expected a little bit larger margin of victory, but that was fine. Now, time for the top Big Ten teams to battle this coming weekend.

46-17 isn't a large margin of victory?

I think JEC was referring to the first 2-3 quarters. Michigan led for the first half and was just 10 points behind after the third quarter. PSU started slow and with Threet, Michigan played well. Even had Threet not gotten hurt, PSU would have won, but the score would have been much closer.

It took time for PSU's D to adjust to UM's spread (plus, both of UM's lines came out firing at the start).

The end result wouldn't have been that different even if Threet had stayed in the game.

k&s, I agree, the result would have been exactly the same. PSU would have won. But I don't think the offense would have been self-destructive as it was with Sheridan had Threet not gotten hurt. Instead of a 4 TD margin, I think it would have been more like a 2 TD margin.

Minor was really awesome that game ! ! ! !

Let us hope we can build on a healthy Threet and Minor. We realy have to improve drastically over the next 4 weeks if we are to not get embarassed by OSU.

Michigan really has to win this week against the spartans, lots of recruits are gonna be at the Big House watching the game.

Michigan has no chance against Michigan State this weekend. I predict a 4 touchdown loss at best unfortunately.

Good game, Spartans destroyed Michigan.

Michigan's first losing season in forever :)

Michigan seems to play solid three quarters of football, but falls apart in the 4th quarter. The Defense is on the field way too long and is exhausted come the fourth quarter. MSU was clearly the better team today, as Illinois and PSU were the last couple of weeks. I am not too concerned about the future of the team though, but like I said before, I expected a lot more of Threet. He was a highly recruited QB out of high school. His development has been mediocre to say the least. Michigan will have a bad season this year and an average season next year but should be back to its usual form in 2010.

Threet is a smart guy and he learns fast. Did you see the play where he came up with a yard short and got yelled at by RR for not diving for the first down. On the next series, he dived in for the touchdown.

The defense, on the other hand, have not improved much since the first game.

Threet is smart, I have no doubt about that, I just don't think he is well suited for RR's system. This difference in style is contributing to his slow development. I have no doubt that Threet will play better next year and will be good in two years, but his development has been slower than I had previously (and wrongly) anticipated.

Also, our schedule has not been easy. Utah is a senior ladden team that is now 8-0 and should finish the season 13-0 or 12-1. Notre Dame is better than expected. MSU, Wisconsin and UIUC are solid. All of those teams are arguably top 25 teams. PSU is arguably the best team in the nation. The remaining two teams we played (Miami and Toledo) are in fact quite bad and we still managed to struggle against them.

Michigan's problem hasn't been the 4th quarter. They had a comeback against Utah in the 4th quarter, out-scoring them 13-0. They put Miami away in the 4th quarter, out-scoring them 6-0. They beat Wisconsin 20-6 in the 4th quarter.

The problem is they can't put an entire game together. They'll look great one half, terrible the other half against good teams. See the Utah, Wisconsin, Penn State, Illinois, and now Michigan State games for examples.

They're just not a good team. It was funny this summer listening to people give Michigan 6+ wins "because they're Michigan", ignoring the fact that there's no QB on this team, no passing attack, no offensive line, and a coach unwilling to adapt to a system that would better fit his talent.

The toilet bowl in, what an ironic location - West Lafayete, next week will determine who the worst in the Big Ten is. I for one, hope Michigan beats Purdoo.

This is just starting to be embarrassing for Michigan. As a lifelong Wolverine fan, I would much rather have Michigan make a bowl game this year and keep the streak alive than go to a better bowl game sometime in the future. I'm tired of looking to the future. It's time for results NOW!!!

Who would have thought that the winningest football program of all-time would go 2-10 or 3-9 in any football season? McGuffie might be the only positive aspect of this Michigan team. Shembechler is rolling over in his grave right now.

ringoffire, you do not strike me like a lifelong Wolverine fan. There is no evidence that you ever were a Wolverine fan. In fact, I think you grew up a fan of a rival institution.

A2Wolves, I agree with your analysis. Michigan has been very inconsistent all season. And although I agree that Michigan and Purdue are two of the weaker teams in the Big 10, I do not think they are weaker than Indiana or Wisconsin.

I say this as an msu student, Michigan will be top ranked in a couple of years once they adapt to RR's game style. They have a solid team who's struggling with a new style, once they get over it, it's game over.
