Not too bad

Why not save some classes for your other years? You have sophomore, junior, and senior year left. You might want to save some classes for junior and senior year…

that schedule is intense. especially for a sophomore. with that schedule, you might not have time to focus on discus throwing. but that all depends how rigorous the course is at your school. and the workload of the courses.

Im curious to know what sport your nationally recognized for.

Unfortunately, chemistry is a lot more than ionic bonds. But i’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Biology is not one of my favorite sciences, but if you liked honors biology a lot, then you’ll love AP Biology. Remember though, although AP Bio relies on your memory, AP Chemistry relies on your ability to logically think things out. In my opinion, AP Chemistry is a true test of your science ability. Same goes for Physics C if you plan to take it in the future.

There’s a lot to Environmental Science, but it’s similar to the Ecological Biology, with some information about the EPA and other government agencies. Don’t forget about your good old creationism v evolution and global warming. haha

Congratulations on the relatively high SAT reading and writing score, but realize that the SAT is an easy version of the English literature and composition exam. The actual test is significantly more difficult than the SAT reading and writing, as you will soon discover in practice tests. If it’s any help though, this year’s test was extremely easy, arguably easier than the SAT I took.

Why would you take 3 AP science classes in one year? That makes no sense to me… you still have your junior and senior years to schedule.

I’m a sophomore and in 2 APs this year - AP Lang and AP US Government. AP Lang isn’t difficult, but it’s a time commitment. This really depends on your school/teacher, but make sure you know the workload before you sign up. Also, make sure you have other options for English. You still have 2 more years beyond next. What are you planning to take for English? (AP Lang is a junior class at my school, and I only took it because I’m taking IB English junior/senior years.) If your school doesn’t have IB and does the more traditional AP Lang/Lit sequence, it makes no sense to do Lang in 10th.

Personally, I think you should relax on your AP overload and save some of it for later - it’s not what I would want to do. AP classes aren’t always super hard, generally speaking, so you should be fine with that schedule if it’s what you want to do. Make sure you can keep your grades up, though - nobody’s going to be impressed by your schedule if your grades aren’t up to par. Think about removing some of the “filler” APs (Environmental, Comp Gov) - everyone, colleges included, can recognize “transcript padders”, and they really don’t do much anyway.

If I were you, and I wanted to take Comp Gov, I would definitely pair it with U.S. Gov. The two share many of the same concepts, so it will be a lot easier to take them at the same time.

Well, I’ll try to answer some of your questions:

@BlizzardPenguin: I already said I’m nationally recognized for discus throwing, which is a track and field event.

@CryingCloud and FallenAngel9: I am locked into several tracks at my school. In history and English, I am a year ahead of my peers. I will likely take AP gov and AP lit junior year. I can’t take those any earlier. And as for the rest of junior year, I’d take senior classes and for senior year, I’d take classes at the very nearby state college.

How do you accelerate in English and History? I thought it goes like this:

English 1/Honors
English 2/Honors
Junior English/AP Lang
Senior English/AP Lit

and
some History/some AP History
some History/some AP History
some History/some AP History
some History/some AP History

for every school, so how can you be a year ahead??

My 8th grade teacher thought I should…and I took the ACT and got a 33 so my principal moved me up. There’s like one or two kids who do this like every 5-7 years

OP’s schedule is so weak. You should be taking Calc BC, it’s the easiest AP out there. And while you’re at it, why not add both Physics Cs? That goes very well with calculus and completes your science trifecta. Now, since we are getting so hot with maths, lets throw AP stats in the mix as well. Oh, and don’t forget to self study for AP Spanish.

a 33 on the ACT is enough to move you up? At my school, kids get 36’s left and right and they don’t get any special treatment…

33 is a great score and I don’t mean to belittle it at all, just saying that it seems a bit strange.
and what does it even mean to be accelerated in history? can’t you take an AP history freshman year anyway? and with english, what would you do after AP lit?

@bobtheboy: well my school has this rigid history schedule structure. Global history —> APUSH —> Euro or econ —> Gov. So I was moved into APUSH freshman year. After AP lit, I’d go take college english. There’s a senior doing it right now. And how old were those kids getting 36’s?

@BellCurve: haha i know…

What is “honors math 10” ???
It’s a good plan for the people IQ >>150, and 1 day>>24hours. Good luck!!

I didn’t want to put down the technical name because it might confuse people. It’s called honors advanced functions and trigonometry. It’s this weird class my school which is inbetween honors advanced algebra and honors precalc

The prerequisite of science is math :-)

well i’m taking AP Biology and AP Chem next year as a junior. your schedule seems tough but you’ll probably do fine…i just really would not recommend you take AP Chem without taking regular Chem first. it’s not the kind of thing where you read it and you instantly understand everything.

hey iambenk, heres my courseload

8th grade: AP Bio (self study) - 5
9th grade: AP Chem (self study) - 5
Precalc - A
10th grade: AP Calc BC - 5 for sure
AP Comp Sci - 70% sure I got a 5
AP Physics C Mech - 50/50 for 5/4
AP Physics C E&M - easy, 5 for sure
Spanish III - a joke
APES (self study) - test next week, late
11th grade (planned): AP Lang
APUSH
AP Stats
AP Spanish
AP Chem for credit
AP Human Geography + AP Macro + AP Micro or AP Human Geography and Chinese III Honors

btw, i also play lots of tennis, upwards of 10 hrs a week and play on the school varsity team, im like #1 or #2
so what do you guys think, was mine too crazy?

plus i got a 34 on the ACT and a 2050 on the SAT in 8th grade

qwertyuiop1, considering you already completed 10th grade, I wouldn’t say it’s crazy at all.

I personally took 4 APs this year (as a sophomore), and I managed it pretty well along with my extracurriculars. It’s a challenge, but it’s definitely doable.
