I'm very interested in going to a 7 or 8 year combined BS/MD program, because I'm sure that medicine is the route I want to take. I made a list, and my first plan was to apply to a total of 15 various BS/MD programs. However, I'm wondering if that is too many!? Is applying to that many a waste of time and money?
P.S. I'm also applying to about 5 regular undergrad colleges.

I applied to that many, it’s not unreasonable. What are your regular schools? Top 20, safeties?

The number is not as relevant as the wide range. They are all very selective, but some are less selective than others.

My Daughter did 14 including 5 ivies ( including Brown combined) and 2 state schools with combined programs. Some guidance counselors hate doing the extra work so we gave her 14 postal service priority envelopes prepaid to ease her burden. my d also included 14 photos so the admission officers would remember her from the personal interviews she had the summer before. Many schools track the number of visits to make sure you are not a ghost applicant who just drops a common app on them without a visit.

Neoevolution: my regular schools are likely to be Harvard, UPenn, Boston college, Rutgers, and maybe UNC or Tufts or Duke

By the way, I just visited BU and I really like it there, and as a result it’s now one of my top three choices. If I want the admissions officers to notice me/remember me, is it a good idea to shoot them a lot of EMAILS asking questions and expressing deep interest so that they remember my name and see that I truly have a genuine interest? Because I don’t think BU offers private interviews or anything of the like to get to know me.
