Someone told me colleges (well, Ivies specifically) frown down upon applicants with TOO MANY officer positions in their ECs. But I can't help it if I have a lot of interests~and they're not just activities I started in junior year or anything. What do colleges really think about kids with a lot of EC leadership positions in school... is it possible to have too much of a good thing?

It depends. If you are an officer in 3 different clubs, a team captain in your sports team, and president of your high school class, that is fairly realistic (although overachieving). Colleges will swarm you with acceptance letters (if everything else in the application checks out).

On the other hand, if you are an officer in 6 different clubs, team captains in all 3 of your sports team, president of your high school class, and volunteer coordinator of ____ organization, that is not very believable.

What are your EC's? Tell me your leadership roles and approximate hours/wk (wks/yr) that you spend on them. I can then tell you if they seem realistic to me.

hehe I am president of 3 clubs and i was wondering the same thing (plus 2 varsity sports)... crap...

I wouldn't stress about it. As long as you are completely truthful in the amount of time you spend on each activity, they aren't going to object to a multi-talented, busy person.
