Too Many Reaches?

Hi, I'm an Indian American student (I guess that falls under Asian), attending a pretty good school in California.

GPA: 4.45
SAT I: 2220 (760 R, 700 M, 760 W)
SAT II: US History 770, Literature 750, Bio 690 (going to retake)
APs: European History 4, Biology 4, US History 5
ECs:
Violin 9 years
Drums 5 Years
Eagle Scout (includes massive service project which takes ~200 hours)
National Merit First Rounder (forget what its called)

Basically, the following are the schools I'm applying to. And although chances are great, my main concern is whether I have too many reaches and not enough matches/safeties. My interest is Political Science/Economics and then maybe onto Law School or Writing/English and maybe a professor (haven't narrowed it down too well yet). What are some more match schools that have good programs in said areas?

Colleges: Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown SFS, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Davis, Princeton, Stanford

Thanks again guys, this site is so awesome for its helpful people!

UCB: slight reach
UCLA: slight reach
UCSD: match
UC Davis: match
Harvard, Princeton: strong reach
Georgetown SFS: reach
Columbia: reach
Stanford: reach

yeah, too many reaches.

Whoa, no way. UCLA/UCB are matches, UCSD safe match, UC Davis safety. Everything else is a reach but your chances at the UCs are better than what was previously posted.

Yes, you will definitely get into the UC's. If that is not enough for you, start looking into other matches/safeties.

In at all UCs, heck, I know people with crappier stats and ECs that got into Cal Engineering.

UC Davis seems to be your only potential safety...regardless of your good stats/ECs, you should definitely include a few more safety/matches.

you can never have too many reaches. as long as you have safety schools and match schools, feel free to aim as high as you want

I think your list is fine, as long as you would be happy attending one of the UCs (probably Berkeley or LA), because the other schools on the list are clear reaches. I'm not saying you won't get in, but the odds are against you.

The schools are all very different (except for the west coast location). You need to focus in on what you are looking for and ignore "the prestigious name." Don't apply to HYPMS...etc. just because, have your reasons.

Aatif:

UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCD: Safety
