Top art colleges for illustration in the US?

What are some good art schools for illustration in the US? I'd like to know some well known schools with strong illustration programs.

Thanks!

MICA, Art Center, and Ringling excel at illustration. RISD is also great (no surprise there) although their illustration program is not as strong as their program in graphic design.

Otis and SVA are highly regarded, even if they’re not at the top of the heap.

Thank you for the answer spoonyj!
Do you know which one of those you mentioned above has the highest job placement rate?

Thanks.

I believe SVA has better illustration program than some of the schools that spoonyj mentioned above. It also has terrific internship and job placement.

SVA has the advantage of being in NYC, the center of the illustration industry, and they’re especially good at cartooning, but overall they aren’t better than the ones I originally listed. All are top-tier programs.

The school I go to, VCU, has a very strong illustration major that is called “Communication Arts” that covers a broader range of skills (from what I’ve heard from my friends at MICA) than the typical illustration major, and I believe there are more classes focused on technical skill, which may or may not be a good thing depending on who you are.

@Shelton123 - would love to hear more about VCU. DS has been accepted to both VCU & Tyler and having a tough time deciding between the 2.
