Since I play a sport that is winter season I wasn't able to put on my initial applications what my team is ranked and such. It's by far my largest time commitment at 20-23 hours/week. Right now we're number 2 in the nation which I think (hope) is pretty significant. I applied to a lot of top schools and I was wondering whether or not I should update them about it? If so, how would I go about it? E-mail? Letter?

You’re not being recruited as an athlete, and they can’t judge your skill by the rank of your team, so… It really doesn’t matter in my eyes. Though maybe someone else has a different opinion.

Ok thanks for the reply, I sort of thought the same thing myself. Bummer, I wanted it to be significant haha.

Only update them on your personal accomplishments. At the end of the season, if you’re recognized as All-County Student Athlete, All-League, All-District, MVP, or some other individual recognition, then update them via email.

Congratulations on your season thus far.
