Coolbrezze was rejected by Michigan and accepted at Iowa. Just a bit bitter I would say…

“In terms of measures like faculty quality, resources, and academic breadth/depth, schools like UVA and UNC have NO business having higher PA scores than schools like Wisconsin or Texas.”

AMEN!

^^
You seem to make this statement after every intended beneficial post I make.

My post sights " big picture" meaning any personal view would not be included or over ruled by all ( statistics etc…):

College is what you make from it. Individual student’s determination is more important that any numerical statistics. THE END

CAL SUCKS!

JohnAdams, don’t ask me for any justification. As a Stanford MBA you should know that this statement is axiomatic.

"You seem to make this statement after every intended beneficial post I make.

Care to explain this statement? I have no idea what you’re talking about!

I’m saying when OP asked
I did not include my personal view in my ranking, even if I did it would be oversighted by statistics etc… I feel that my list is accurate to OP’s question.

Coolbreeze, any ranking that does not include Michigan among the top 10 public universities is seriously flawed. We all know you are bitter about your rejection.

This is an interesting debate, however these are my top public universities in terms of prestige.

UC Berkeley
Michigan
UVA
UCLA
UW - Madison
UNC

I think that The University of Michigan, Berkeley and UW - Madison have the best graduate schools and best programs overall. People would generally choose Berkeley over Michigan in engineering, but in terms of social sciences, history and the biological sciences, one couldn’t go wrong choosing either one. In terms of undergraduate business and medicine, Michigan is the way to go.

“In terms of measures like faculty quality, resources, and academic breadth/depth, schools like UVA and UNC have NO business having higher PA scores than schools like Wisconsin or Texas.”

I agree that UVa is inflated. I think UNC is reasonably ranked because UNC offers MANY professional programs. It is arguably the best public university in the Southeast (excluding Texas). I believe UVa has a higher ranking because it has historically educated upper-middle-class households for generations.

But we’re actually qualified to claim that he’s bitter because we have evidence for it, of course.

Jeez… I am nowhere near to being bitter. I am also very excited about attending The University of Iowa in which it’s my dream school.

My top ten ranking does not include the University of Michigan. I did not list any great schools such as: University of Texas- Austin, University of California- San Diego, College of William and Mary etc… for you to make an accusations comes to no surprise in that your a UMich student. Looking at the " big picture" it does not include many schools that are also recognized throughout the country.

Recharge I have also ( for a long time period) stated that Michigan State University was my top choice and for a shorter time period it was University of Michigan. It was a great that I was able to broaden my horizon with schools and to find out my dream school ( more than a top choice) is in Iowa City.

Though to stay on topic my list is only intended to be beneficial and as I expected there would be a few to state their disagreements with list that does not include their current school/ alma matter.

UC Berkeley
UCLA
U-Michigan
UNC-Chapel Hill
UVA
UW-Madison
UIUC
William and Mary
GA Tech
UT Austin

Idk… some of the last few are sort of random lol

You can say what you want, but you can’t contradict the evidence.

I don’t think UVA and UNC are bad schools by ANY means… it’s just that I feel they have a higher perceived quality against some stronger schools. I agree UNC is stronger than UVA and a very good school. However, if you compare all of its academic programs vs UT-Austin, UT actually has more highly ranked departments across more disciplines (sure UNC may be stronger in some areas, but I’m talking aggregate). Yet UT has the lower PA score (and apparently falling this year!) That was my main point. Sorry if it sounded like I was discounting it. It’s just that UT should be ranked as least as high if we’re talking quality of academic programs. If we’re considering student body selectivity, then perhaps UNC should get a slight bump vs UT since it’s allowed to be more selective. UT’s hands are too tied by politics to be more selective.

^^ Indeed, if Coolbreeze wasn’t bitter, he would have ranked Michigan among the top 10 regardless where he is matriculating.

^
Tenisghs personally or statistically ( which my list was based off) I do not see University of Michigan as a top ten public school, comes to no surprise the school was not listed in the top ten.

^
That is by far a stupid statement. Opinion or not Michigan is a top 10 public school. Name any statistic that in some way proves that Michigan is not a top 10 public school? Let’s be serious. University of Iowa is indeed a great school, but if Michigan is not better than University of Iowa… I have no comment.
