Total non-target ---> Merrill Lynch?

Sauder Student Wall Street Bound - UBC Reports

How is this possible?

well, UBC has one of the best econ programs in North America and the best in Canada. In any case, it was clearly her ECs…

BTW, it’s more impressive that she was directly admitted to HBS. The top Canadian schools always send a handful of students to Wall Street, they just represent a tiny % of their very large student bodies.

o.O

Well, one of my classmates’ brother also got in Merrill Lynch.

And he went to UBC as well.

wutangfinancial,

Would you be willing to discuss econ at McGill with me? It would be of GREAT help. I’m trying to decide where to go next fall.

Please PM me with some way of contacting you, your PM box is full.

My completely unprofessional opinion here, so yeah.

But if you want to get into iBanking from a Canadian Univ,

UWO Ivey appears to be the best.
Queens is second, then probably Schulich at york/Mcgill.

I am prefacing this with I have no idea what position she got… just for the record. However, if I read the article correctly, it never mentioned. So it is also entirely possible she received an Ops/BO offer from an Investment Bank.

Either way, I think the direct admit to HBS is more impressive. That’s really tough to do. It was absolutely her EC btw. They like interesting people.

Sauder isn’t a “total non-target” actually. It isn’t at the top of the list for Canada but if you are a solid candidate that institution will not hold you back at all. I have seen a handful of Sauder grads around Wall Street in front office positions, with about the same frequency as I see McGill grads and much greater than Schulich.

I’m not surprised. Sauder is probably harder to get in than schulich, and on par with Queens. Too many nerdy asians in vancouver.

She goes to one of the best schools in Canada and she’s way more impressive than most college grads that get into IBanking. Let’s put it this way: most Wall Street staff can’t get into HBS. I am not surprised at all.

I don’t see how UBC is one of the best schools in Canada. Should I go to UBC and not to programs like Ivey and so forth?

For business the six best would be Ivey, Queens, Schulich, McGill, UBC and Toronto. So I think it’s fair to say it’s one of the best considering there are something like 40 or 50 universities in Canada.
