So I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to Financial aid and scholarships. I missed the FAFSA filing deadline for both University of Washington and UCB (only two schools I applied to). Does this automatically exempt me from getting any sort of finaid for the next year? Also, are there any other ways of getting finaid at these two schools other than the FAFSA?

Also, when it comes to scholarships, do schools usually automatically submit you for consideration of scholarships or do you have to apply yourself?

Any help would be appreciated; thanks.

Move to FinAid forum, please. My mistake.

You need to check with the Fin Aid offices at your schools. Either call or look on the web sites. You may have missed "priority" deadlines which are for state and government aid, but maybe not for school. Also, the web sites would indicate if there is any scholarship for merit or other kinds of Fin Aid that you could qualify for. Sometimes just your transcript is sufficient for applications, and sometimes you have to do stuff, like write essays, or submit other info. I would check with the offices. We really don't know enough on this forum, at least I don't, to help with these details.

Hey I agree with Franglish. Check with your school to see what's available. You can also use this free directory (it's free so don't think that this is SPAM and get me kicked off) to find scholarship programs. I found it to be a very helpful resource. Good Luck.
