D was on waiting list for Towers and just got an email saying they were in the process of moving some students over there and wanted to know if she was still interested. Right now she is to be in Lake Claire. We did not do the housing tour and were initially happy with the room she got. Can anyone enlighten us on the Towers? Thanks!

I got that email as well and I accepted it.
I was initially in a double for the fall, so I jumped at the chance of having a single.

I have not taken any housing tours, but from [the housing website](http://housing.ucf.edu) it looks like a great place to live.

Is this for the fall?

Yes, starting in the fall. Towers contracts are for 11.5 months though.

My daughter lives in Tower 1 and loved it so much she is staying in the same room this year too. The beds are full size and not twins and she loves having a full kitchen (with dishwasher)and pantry and her own space. The shower is double the size of her shower in Nike. I have some photos of a room at towers, PM me if you want me email them to you.

If you can afford the Towers, go for it.

Thanks for the pictures seiclan. On the housing website ([UCF Housing and Residence Life | Our Communities](http://www.housing.ucf.edu/communitiesgallery.php?community=towers12&ID_community_gallery=24)) the rooms look a lot bigger though. They didn’t show that there is a wall on the right-- it made me think that there was more space on the right of the bed. They are tricky. But, in all the room is still big and it looks nice.

Differences between Towers and Lake Claire:
Lake Claire:
Cinderblock walls, small bedroom w/extra long twin beds, smaller closet, share sink and mirror above it with all roommates (one vanity area for entire apt), no dishwasher, no elevators, laundry machines are in a common building (not your building or floor), ALL FRESHMAN, located between classroom 1 and Greek row.

Towers:
no cinderblock, larger bedroom w/full size beds, larger closet, newer, OWN sink, share mirror/vanity w/one other roommate (apt is divided into left of kitchen/LR and right, each side has a bathroom and vanity with two sinks.), dishwasher/disposal in apt, laundry machines on each floor of each tower, Mixed apartments of freshman/sophs/juniors/seniors (my daughter’s apt last year had two freshman, a sophmore and a junior). Tower 2 tends to have more freshman since upperclassmen try to move to tower 1 or 4 (because they are “closer” to classes). Tower 2 is the furthest tower from classes. Located next to arena, Barnes and Noble, stadium, Knightros (dining hall).

YIKES! Didn’t realize Lake Claire doesn’t have a dishwasher! D will be in Lake Claire in Fall/Spring.

If you can afford it definately go with Towers. The difference in price for Fall is:

Lake Claire Apartments Single (4/2 Apt) $2760.00

Towers at Knights Plaza Single (4/2 Apt) $3230.00
Towers at Knights Plaza Single (4/4 Apt) $3445.00
Towers at Knights Plaza Single (2/1 Apt) $3595.00
Towers at Knights Plaza Single (1/1 Apt) $3685.00

My room assignment ends in A.

What room would that be on the floorplan?
[UCF Housing and Residence Life | Our Communities](http://www.housing.ucf.edu/communitiesfloorplan.php?community=towers12&ID_floorplans=09)

Would it be the first one on the far left?

The A room in a Towers apt. is the one on the far right of the floorplan online (it is the far left when you enter the apartment). The A and the D rooms are larger than the B and C rooms. The photo that I sent you is of the A room.

Thanks seiclan. I was hoping it was one of the end rooms. I noticed that the other two rooms have the window in the closet, and I did not want that.

Do you know how many apartments are on each floor of the Towers? I am on the 3rd floor.

how do I know if I got the 4/4 and not the 4/2? I requested the 4/4 and so did my other roommates. How am I going to know? It doesn’t say exactly. I’m in tower 1 on the 3rd floor. Does this mean anything?

You can tell whether you are in a 4/4 or a 4/2 by how much your bill is. The rate for fall semester is:
Towers at Knights Plaza Single (4/2 Apt) $3230.00
Towers at Knights Plaza Single (4/4 Apt) $3445.00
So go to your account in myUCF and see what you owe for Fall housing.
The third floor is a great place to be…you will find yourself taking the stairs more than the elevators since they take FOREVER. I am not sure how many apartments are on each floor of the Towers. My daughter is in a 4/4 and it is a corner apt. Her two best friends (guys) are going to be in the 4/4 directly above her on the third floor this Fall. I am fairly sure that there are only a few (maybe two) 4/4’s on each floor. The RA for each floor lives in a 1/1. Each Tower floor is configured like a big U, with the elevators in the middle. The laundry room is on the left side of the U.

My Fall bill hasn’t shown up yet. lol But I guess I’ll find out when it shows up! That does sound really nice. The Towers are great :D

Rachel - To find out the price go to: “View Your Account” - the link above Fee Invoice, and it will say the Housing price.

Freshmen can live in apartments with kitchens? Are they required to purchase a meal plan as well?

There is no meal plan requirement at UCF. I know of other FL universities with this rule, but at UCF you do not have to.

The “view your account” link doesn’t show anything for me, knightforum. is it because i’m fall and your talking about summer?

Sorry, I was not thinking… I can’t even see my fall housing yet, I was thinking of Summer, but I knew she was talking about Fall.
