Traditions at Harvard

As a prospective student, I am acutely aware of Harvard's commitment to providing its students exceptional academic teaching and personal growth, amidst a wealth of resources.

What I would like to know more about are Harvard traditions (apart from the John Harvard statue jokes etc...), and other experiences that are unique to the school. I do know that expository writing became a compulsory part of undergraduate education beginning in 1875 or so.

I was partially inspired to learn more about the College's history by an undergraduate orator at the 2011 commencement whose speech was entitled "Lessons Learned From the Three Legged Chair".

All responses are welcomed and appreciated!
